But anyway I think The yes album is a masterpiece, my vote goes to that wonderful record

"THE YES ALBUM", but again, it is from a difrerent year. Had the YES item been "TIME AND A WORD", my vote would have been otherwise.

Trespass - not my favourite though but still better.

Can't choose. My favourite Yes album and my 4th favourite Genesis album.

Note - my 17 year old son took Roundabout into school yesterday to play in the 6th form room. Lots of people have asked him to take in more cause they liked it so much. Who says prog is dead?

With out a doubt The Yes Album, Trespass is good tough.

Why is the multiple choice allowed? Anyway, TYA wins without doubt for me.

It is hard to compare early works of bands with different backgrounds: Yes was formed by experienced musicians, with passages through other bands although they were new ones; Genesis was formed by school friends with no previous flights that evolved together and they were newer than Yes members still newer if one considers that Trespass was released one year before TYA.

When you're young one or two years can make a real difference in terms of apprenticeship, singing,  instrument playing, lyrics, stage presence, etc. Consequently the perspective is all favorable to TYA.

Nevertheless, I presently enjoy more Trespass than any Yes album so my vote went to Genesis.

The Yes Album is excellent album, but I like the soings from this album in Yessongs much more.

Trespass has an incredible merit, is an incredible evolution from FGTTR and at least three songs are on my top 10 (White Mountain, The Knife and Visions of Angels).

I can't choose, but I believe Yes Album is a bit more developed.

Both are simply great.

Iván

Nope, no other thread will end as NC vs Fragile, because the guy who caused all this trouble has not posted hate messages about Genesis anymore.

And honestly I apologize with all the members for being so passionate with discussions, but nobody changes at 41 years.

Wow. Tough call. TYA is probably more refined and better recorded, but Ima have to go with Trespass from a personal standpoint it brings back alot of memories and I still get the same feeling from it as the first time I heard it. Maybe cuz TYA is so overplayed and its like overkill; like Dark Side of the Moon, I just dont listen to it that much anymore.

Multiple votes + people with way too much free time = dead poll.

Need I add another vote for The Yes Album?

But if there was one album that has really blown me away, it's The Yes Album.

I really believe this guy is a complete moron, because Yes Album was going to win anyway.

Trespass is a great album, I like it much more than any Yes release, but it's the first Prog effort of Genesis, while The Yes Album is the point where Yes reached the maturity and of course it's better developed.

Trespass is an underrated gem even for Genesi fans, so there wasno chance to win this poll.

This useless idiot tried to make sure that Yes won and only turned this poll in a joke.

not bothering to vote,  it was meaningless anyway but made ridiculous by the fact that someone would care enough about the vote total to manipulate it.  Anyway if I was to vote, it would be for the Yes Album... full of songs that 35 years later..still are classics... of prog.  Trespass.... blown away first time I heard The Knife.... 'is THIS Genesis'  hahahahah.  Really like Looking for Someone and Stagnation.  Prettty good album from a bunch of kids.   Then again I really like From Genesis to Revelation as well.

“The Yes album” seems to be exactly four times the

amount of votes that “Trespass” has (50 “Trespass”,

200 “The Yes album”) This is to be expected I guess.

Trespass is mostly notable for “The Knife” While “The

Yes album” contains many of the bands most famous

songs on it. “Trespass” is by no means bad but “The

Yes album” is just better.

I agree, The Yes album is more solid than Trespass (Despite I like Trespass more), but don't believe in polls, worst if multiple votes are allowed.

But IMO White Mountain is much better than The Knife

There's no way than 300 members would have voted in a poll.

If you want to see, look how Trespass gets 20 more votes in one minute

Iván

EDIT: Oops, I missed it was 30 votes for Trespass in one minute

Well Yes is my favourite band, with Genesis as a #2. But here I have to say Trespass. It's an underrated album, and even if it is the start of Genesis and the line up is not yet complete I love it. Phillips guitar is great, and if it wasn't for his stagefright there is no way Hacket would have joined Genesis. Which of course would have been a sham :P

But back to topic, it's close but it's Trespass.

The Yes Album is not very close to the artistic peak of Yes (CTTE), but it is not nearly as far away as Trespass is from Genesis' artistic peak (Supper's Ready, Selling England..).

The Yes Album is also much better all around, therefore I vote for it.

By the way, can we ask the Administrator to check who the multiple voter is so we can all laugh at him? that would be great,

Thanks!

As good as Trespass is, The Yes Album is better. A quintessential moment in time for one young prog fan - way back then. Fantastic. Trespass is merely Great.

hmmm....

not sure who is making these polls but I think if a little more thought was put into them, they'd be more interesting.  How about comparing albums of the same vein, such as Trespass and Time and a Word. Where both bands were making baby steps into the world of prog.  The Yes Album is a minor Prog classic,  Trespass is a decent 'first' album and obviously loved by Genesis fans.

This poll should be locked right now. Multiple votes are unexpectable, because it greatly distorts the data....

But I have to say Trespass is quite a weak album. No matter how much I like Peter Gabriel's voice, this album is a true shame. There is awful production, sup-bar creativity and just plain mediocre songwriting.

On the other hand, the Yes album are filled with Yes classics and almost every single song is at least "acceptable". Even with the mediocre production, its still miles ahead of Trespass.
