Both of these Yes "off shoots" released records in the early 70's.

Badger released 2 LPs, in 1973 and 1974.  Their second, with vocalist Jackie Lomax was totally different from the first, almost doesn't sound like the same band.  Flash released their 1st in late 1972 and then another the following year and another the year after that.  (Was there a 4th??)  Although their 2nd & 3rd records were good, I wouldn't recommend them.

What I'm getting at here is the first LP by both bands should not be overlooked.  Both are excellent shining examples of what prog is all about.  Is anyone in agreement?

I have listened to most Badger and Flash albums and they certainly have their appeal. Both groups very different to Yes which is surprising considering their connections. I will agree though that Peter Banks is criminally underated!

Badger didn't sound like yes at all,but Flash sure did IMHO.They sound like classic era YES,throbbing bass, vocal harmonies, gtrs ect...maybe the keyboards differ a bit from yes, escpecially after Banks left.

Another of those Yes-connected band that should please yes fans is Empire. They were supposed to be a continuation of Flash, but instead became a band proper. What differentiate them from Badger/Flash/Yes is the vocals of Sidney Fox,Banks' then wife. And she was goegous too!!!

There is a 4th - a live album, released in the last 10 years and obviously knocked up from a bootleg. I've long felt Banks was making a point wrt his guitarwork on Flash & Flash In The Can, that he was trying to demonstrate he could match Steve Howe. Banks was also being influenced by Jan Ackermann at that time. Fond live memories of Flash as support for Beck Bogert & Appice

Sorry, I was thinking of another mammal, not a badger.

Another zombie from the search engine.

Flash was pretty cool if memory serves me.

It's been 25+ years since I've heard those records.

Any way somebody could get the first Flash record these days?
