hey there

my son is into hip-hop (as well as other music, thankfully ) and he's been asking me if I know what is sampled in these hiphop songs he has. I had a listen and didn't know, but now it's really starting to bug me too!

these links will open a media player window.

/\ this one has a violin sampled and an electric guitar. im sure its from a prog rock track ...it sounds VERY familiar. its driving me mad, because i'm sure I've heard it before.

/\ this one I have no idea about but it sounds kind of Spanish. Maybe one of you might have some idea of the original song its sampled from?

Thanks guys, I hope you can help

The sample in the first song seems to come from King Crimson's "Pictures of a city", (you know, the mellow part in the middle of the song called "42nd at treadmill") but I'm not really sure.

For the second one I don't have a clue, sorry

Interestingly enough, there's also a clip of a KC song (I Talk to the Wind) at the beginning of "Chewing Sun-Rays" by the more experimentally minded hip hop group Dialtone, from their 4 Track Mind album released recently. It's good stuff

What sort of music is played on the KC's spin-off album BPM & M?
