• What boxes\sets are available for more than one cd..? you know boxes with 2-3 or even whole discography cds!

• If there are none of those I know I'm gonna have to buy the cds one buy one - BUT - whats the best version to get? Best version meaning the highest-quality remastered and ofcourse the occasional bonus tracks\digipack stuff\booklet features you know...

• Are there any deals that you know of on the web that you can buy a hefty amount of their cds for a good price?

I know this kinda seems too asking for a first post but hey this could prove very useful for people getting into King Crimson

If you have not already done so, take some time to navigate the site and see what's available.  Record reviews (feel free to contribute your own!), discussion forums, interviews, etc.

Re Crimson, given Robert Fripp's perfectionism, it is unlikely that any versions of the albums are less than good, if not excellent.  This would include box sets.  So you are probably safe buying just about anything, if it has what you are looking for.

Personally, I prefer to buy albums individually, even at the added cost, because then I get the original covers, lyrics books, etc.  Sometimes the box sets do not have these things (though they may have additional stuff, like longer books, etc.).

With Crimson, it is definitely best to listen to them in chronological order, both because it will give you an idea of how heir style changed and/or developed, and you will be able to hear how personnel changes affected those styles.  Start with "In the Court" and move on from there.

Finally, if that's your photo, you may want to be aware that some of the guys on the site can be somewhat "testosterone"-heavy.  Most of them will "play nice," but you may get the occasional off-color comment.  If you don't like that, thell them.  If you don't mind, feel free to be playful, but be careful of "leading them on" - they're likely to go the distance!  (And if you ever have any real problems here, feel free to send me a private message.)

I'm a Crimson fan, every release has merit to it, in my opinion. I'd highly recommend checking out their site, through which you can order everything anyway, and get Live '81 in Berkeley, Ca., a live masterpiece, material from Discipline and Beat, excellent versions that outdo the studio versions.

If you're talking about the different releases of each individual album, the ones to go for are the "thirtieth anniversary" ones. I forget which record label these are from but I'll post again when I've checked it. They also have really detailed notes on the CD slip with newspaper clippings etc. but no bonus tracks.

However, there are compilations (for example "A Young Person's Guide to King Crimson"; strange name but apparently very good) of rarities available if you're going for collecting as much as possible,

In terms of box sets I've never heard mention of any. If you have a new format sound system, DVDA or SACD or something, I'm not sure but I think there was mention of releasing at least some of them in that format, so you may want to wait and see about those.

Good idea. The 30th anniversary editions sound much better, clearer and more detailed than older cd versions. Especially 'Lizard' and 'Islands'. The packaging is great too.

Of course nothing beats the original vinyls (the original UK Island pressings, that is).
