Yes would have most likely been a great show.

About halfway to the airport, we hit traffic. Not too bad- the worst traffic Vegas gets can't begin to compare to the joys of the Long Island Expressway during rush hour- but something must have gone wrong inside the little VW because all the dashboard lights came on simultaneously, there was a strange surge in the rpms, and then the car quietly puttered out. So after an hour or so waiting in the blazing Nevada afternoon sun, the tow truck arrived about the same time boarding should have started for our flight. A few calls on my cell confirmed that there was no chance of a timely replacement flight- the best we could do was maybe get there during the last third of the concert. After talking to our friends in Denver, I finally just told them to see if there was a couple of people who might want to take our place- I figured it would be better to make two people unexpectedly happy rather than waste the tickets and fry our nerves geting there too late to see the majority of the show (and that's if we were lucky). Once the repair bill for the car is added, this will turn out to be the most expensive show I've never seen.

Oh well. I'd be happy if this was the worst thing that had ever happened to me. Maybe the band will even stay together long enough to tour again. Maybe the folks who get our tickets will begin a blissful lifelong love affair and produce a child that cures cancer and AIDS and develops a sutainable, clean, economical source of power. Or maybe they'll just scalp the tickets and buy some good Colorado weed. Either way, I'm home and only slightly bitter.

That is truly a great big shame but they will tour soon and then you can at last enjoy the greatest live band in existence - chin up James
