This was indeed a most evil poll. All the albums I've heard of those are really good, with Close To The Edge as my least favourite (but I'm quite sure I'll be more fond of it when I get to listen through it more), but it came down to Nursery Cryme or The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway for me, in the end. So I voted for Nursery Cryme, because I don't think anyone else will do it.

In retrospect, I should've picked Trespass...

Really difficult...

I own 24 albums, the only one I don't have is "Octopus" and I admit I've only listened to VDGG's album once (or really 1/2 time, I can't stand them, really).

My list:

  1. Red
  2. Close to the Edge
  3. Selling England...
  4. Lark's
  5. Brain Salad

I just wrote a top 10 albums -list for myself a few days ago and I chose Camel's The Snow Goose to be the best. But your list is really well chosen.

If I got to chose four albums more from this list, it would be like
2. Camel - Moonmadness
3. Camel - Mirage
4. Yes - Close to the Edge
5. ELP - Brain Salad Surgery

My top 10

It's difficult to mention only one of these albums, but for its importance, magnificence and the role of open my mind to another level of music, I must be predictable and vote for Close to the edge.

I guess the obvious choice is Close to the Edge, perhaps the most beautiful album ever made. However, it is closely followed by Selling England by the Pound.

Very difficult. From that list...

The Lamb
Close to the Edge
Foxtrot
Trick of the Tail
Moonmadness.... or maybe Going for the One

My own list...

The Lamb - Genesis
Close to the Edge - Yes
In the Region of the Summer Stars - The Enid
Ashes are Burning - Rennaissance
The Least we can do is Wave to Each other  - VDGG

  1. Foxtrot
  2. Selling England By The Pound
  3. The Yes Album
  4. Brain Salad Surgery
  5. Close To The Edge

Where are the modern bands like Spocks Beard, The Flower Kings and Anglagard

All of these albums listed are milestones in the prog history.

But between those i'll choose MOONMADNESS by CAMEL because every time i listen to it i become excited. Mr. BARDENS and Mr. LATIMER are geniuses.

King Crimson is not symphonic since Lark's Tongues In Aspic IMO.

I choose Genesis - Selling England By The Pound.

Tough choice, but Gentle Giant and second Selling England.

And about Yes, tried them over and over again, can't seem to like them. I don't understand that while so many love them.

CCTE followed by Brain Salad Surgery.

Difficult for me to choose between CCTE, BSS, and Relayer. These three have the most votes so glad majority agree with me

I gave my endorsement to King Crimson's first release ITCOTCK.  I just as easily could have voted for Yes's Close To The Edge.  Since Crimsons ITCOTCK came out first, I'll give it the nod.

Man, I got a special place in my heart for The Lamb, so that's my pick. I was about 14 and was already a Rush fan, and dug what Tull, Yes, and ELP got radio play, but had no particular love for prog music. I heard the title track on the radio, loved it, and went out and bought the album. I was like nothing I'd ever heard before: the complex music, the cryptic lyrics, the trippy story. I was hooked. It was all downhill from there...

CTTE, Moonmadness, SEBTP, and Red round out the top 5 (in no particular order)
