MAX@,

There appears to be something wrong with the TOP 20 rankings on the Home Page: PINK FLOYD's "Meddle" is currently ranked 7th and "Dark Side Of The Moon" is ranked 8th. However, the page for "Meddle" shows 14 stars from SPECIAL COLLABORATION plus 44 stars from PROG REVIEWER = 58 stars, while the page for "Dark Side Of The Moon" shows 15 stars from SPECIAL COLLABORATION plus 45 stars from PROG REVIEWER = 60 stars. So "Dark Side Of The Moon" should be ranked higher than "Meddle". Why isn't it?

Because some Collaborators rated the MEDDLE CDs but did not wrote a REVIEW (and the vote is calculated wheter there is a review or not)

Should I use only the TEXT-ED review ?

I think, all votes should count no matter if there's a review or not upon the album. It's like unspoken choice

Personally, I would not rate an album without also reviewing it, where's the fun in that!?Confused

No problem with your method of calculation though Max, makes sense to me!Thumbs Up

In my opinion it would be better for Collaborators to post a review and for the TOP 20 to be based on the ratings for those only, i.e. only TEXT-ED review as MAX@ calls it. But seems from the above two posts that I'm in the minority (yet again!).

You could start a poll...

MAX@,

As Certif1ed suggested, I ran a poll:

http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=1583 - http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=1583

and the majority voted for counting only those ratings that have an associated review, so may I suggest that you change the derivation of the Collaborators' TOP 20/50 to only take star ratings into account if there is an associated review?

If you do agree to make the change, may I kindly request that you post in this thread just to let us know that you've made the change? Many thanks.
