...In the world of prog? I would personally have Petrucci's Guitar technique and mr wakemans keyboard technique mixed with Neal Morses songwriting technique and Omar Rodriguez lyrical skill...

I'd say Tony Levin. From all interviews, his website and book, he seems very happy. He loves to play bass and he gets to play bass for a living. Add to that being respected enough to play with so many. Then there's the bonus of travelling the world. Plus... I want to play a stick.
