Just saw a Simpsons episode where Phish appeared.

Is it possible to make a whole DVD out of Simpson episodes with progmusicians as guests?

Or an episode of any other of those cartoons: South Park, Family Guy etc.

It would be great and funny...

I saw Phish too in that episode, U2, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sting and Rolling Stones ...

Phish is the only prog band i think...

But imagine Roger Waters or Phil Collins, or Dream Theater in a Simpson episode... it would be great

Phil Collins appeared in South Park. They made quite a lot of fun of him.

During the South Park episode with Phil Collins they had him sing "You'll be in me" instead of "You'll be in my heart"

Rush are mentioned in many different toons:

Check down the list posted on Power Windows Rush Site(most recent at bottom) http://www.2112.net/powerwindows/RushReferences.htm - Rush References In Popular Culture

They must be the most cited Rock band around.

I am glad South Park made fun of Phil collins. I got his solo greatest hits as
a Christmas gift, and I hated every song on it. To this day, I am still mad at
Phil Collins for creating my crappy christmas gift.

Les Claypool also did the theme song for "Robot Chicken"

and I'm surprised no one mentioned Radiohead's appearance on "South Park"!

Also Ronnie James Dio appeared in South Park, playing Holy Diver in their school. It was pretty funny to see the kids dancing at the rythm of this song.

The Simpsons have featured:

  1. The Who
  2. Rolling Stones
  3. Bachman Turner Overdrive
  4. Peter Frampton (Who mentions he bought a pink pig from Pink Floyd)
  5. Kid Rock
  6. In A Gadda Da Vida (Played as In the Garden of Eden in the church)
  7. Elvis Costello
  8. George Harrison (In a parody of The Beatles with a barber shop quartet in which Homer sung)
  9. Ringo Starr
  10. Phish
  11. Red Hot Cilly Peppers
  12. REM
  13. Sting
  14. U2
  15. The Ramones
  16. Aerosmith

And  a lot more that I can't remember.

BTW: The South Park episode of Timmy and Phil Collins is a classic.

Also in the Simpsons- Sonic Youth, The Smashing Pumpkins, Cypress Hill, Lenny Kravitz, and Tom Petty. In the "Homerpalooza" episode it was great when Peter Frampton says, "You're damn right I'm going to be pissed off! I bought that pig at Pink Floyd's yard sale!"

Is that The Simpsons episode where Phish got a mention?  I don't remember them being in it..., I remember something about smoking joints..., I understood the joke, because I knew who Phish were, but none of my friends understood it.

Not prog, but can you class Barbara Streisand in South Park too?

The episode with Phish is called "Weekend at Burnsies." Phish are playing to support the potheads in trying to get Springfield to not make medicinal marijuana illegal. Homer, being stoned out of this universe, signs his name on the last two spots on the petition that Flanders is handing around, after Flanders reads Homer the entire Bible and does a very accurate Wiggum impression.

There's also and episode of the simpsons were bart (and that weiner milhouse) fall for this girl who happens to be the daughter of reiner wolfcastle, who has to go to canada to shoot a film, but in one of the scenes he his being picked on by these two "bullies" who say, "there's just more of you to pick on", so wolfcastle lifts one of the bullies and literally puts him through the body of the other bully, then he says "AND THE GEEK SHALL INHERIT THE EARTH!!!!!!!!"

Now isn't that similar to a line in a certain song of a certain canadian band!!!!!!!!!!!

I heard one tonight that might be a new favourite:

Bart: Who's Neil Young?

Marge: He was a singer in the 60's... like The Banana Splits or The Archies.

Apparently, in some of the episodes, during the song intro when Lisa plays the saxophone solo, there is a very brief reference to 'King Kong'. I just read this somewhere, and I don't have the ability to validate this right now.

...and I could have sworn there was an episode where Otto the busdriver yells "Zappa rules!"

One of my favorites!  The Moody Blues were on the Simpson's episode where Homer and Flanders marry two waitresses in Vegas.  When the new wives find out the guys are already married and trying to ditch the waitresses, the Moodys promise to kick Homer's a** in a very poetic way:

"Cold hearted Homer, ditching his wife

while ancient Ned runs for his life.

Chips of red and blue and white

But we decide...

(Grame Edge interrupts) Can the poems. It's Arse whooping time!"
