I saw them last Friday, in Milan (in a place very close to it).. I don't know why it has taken so long for me to write about it but it's been quite strange: I'd been waiting for it so much and then I just felt a bit... not disappointed but "incomplete".

I really enjoyed the show: they're wonderful musicians and they were really into the show (at least Steve, although I suppose they were a bit tired after a whole year touring) but I think they could have done something better...

ok ok, I know that asking for some old stuff from "Signify" or "The sky moves sideway" would have been too much but they just played all their most recent and "hard" stuff, without rest.. I suppose that a little "heartattack in a layby" would have been appreciated as a chance of taking a deep breath before drowing into metal songs again [at least by me ]. It's not that I don't like their heavy stuff but the whole thing sounded like they put a few songs together just to do another concert before going home (and maybe it's the truth, who knows?)..

Anyway, they're always Porcupine Tree and I won't ever forget that I was only two metres far from Steven Wilson (HE'S GREAT!)... I'll surely go and see them again, when they're back in Italy..

I just got back from their London show with Robert Fripp opening. Here's what I posted on another message board:

Just got back from a great show. Robert Fripp did a sweet soundscape Frippertronics thing. It's amazing how that man continues to redefine the language of the guitar. At least this time people who weren't into it were respectful and went to the bar, instead of like the last time I saw Fripp at G3 where some moron shouted "it's got six strings! Use 'em!" Bloody philistine. Anyway, I managed to get up very close. When PT came on, I was about 3 meters away from John Wesley (their touring guitarist). I didn't have a very clear idea of what the band looked like before I went, so I was suprised to find out that Steve Wilson looks like some sort of a skinny nerd. The venue wouldn't allow photos, which was a bitch. I only have In Absentia and Deadwing so I only know the songs off that album and the ones he introduced by name, but here's what I remember of the setlist, in very rough order:

Blackest Eyes
Lazarus
Don't Hate Me
Arriving Somewhere But Not Here
Black the Sky
Buying New Soul

Start of Something Beautiful

I saw them two weeks ago, and they played some old songs as well. Hatesong and Radioactive Toy, to be precise. And Lazarus or Arriving ... from Deadwing are also not that "hard".

I'm really looking forward to their next gig or their DVD (whatever comes first)!

Well I saw them tonight and Fripp needs to learn a new word: "entertainment".

Porcupine Tree were excellent though.I'll post some more photos off my phone tomorrow!

I saw PT about 2 months ago and it was a great show with the set list described on this thread.  I'd also comment that Arriving Somewhere But Not Here is a blend of song styles but gets pretty heavy around the 6:30 minute mark.

I highly recommend them for people who haven't seen the band live.
