my personal favourite is the amazing new album aerial. it sounds more complex and more ambicious. the second part of the album (a sky of honey) is an incredible suite of 41 minutes. if you don't got it, please, buy it!!!

"The Kick Inside", by far. Don't think she ever came close to equalling
that, although her later albums were more ambitious.

I like The Dreaming, its very experimental and varied

Hounds of Love is still the best, although The Dreaming is not far behind and Aerial is catching up fast.

My vote goes for "Never for ever" but it's not in the list.

I think it'll be hard for anything to top 'Hounds of love'.

'The ninth wave' is so good, and every song that was on side 1 of the LP was great also...

'Hounds of love' closely followed by 'The dreaming' and 'The sensual world'

Voted "The Kick Inside".

It has a very mystical, haunting feel to it and still remains her best work imo.  Hounds of Love deserves a mention too though as it again stirs the emotions in songs like "Mother Stands for Comfort" and "Dream of Sheep" but Kick Inside just pips it.

I am still getting into "Aerial" - sublime and mellow feel to it.  Couldn't believe it though when Rolf Harris makes an appearance !!

Rolf is God (literally). At least he doesn't play the Stylophone or wobble board.

What the hell is a "shepard"?

You realise you have just sl*gged off one of the most successful female solo artists of all time and a favourite of a number of people on this forum. Nice one.

Fair enough, you don't like Kate Bush, so why do you have to keep posting in a Kate Bush thread? Unless you have something constructive to say, butt out.

Hounds of Love, followed by Aerial (only just, liable to change without notice!), followed by The Sensual World. And I enjoyed Never For Ever - hey, anything by Kate is worth listening to

'Never for Ever' for me so far... very original pop-rock with progressive tendencies.

I'm guessing that you are referring to a different Kate Bush. The artist referred to in this poll is actually one of the most talented and versatile vocalists in pop music history. Her music is passionate, unique and very progressive.

Perhaps instead of just sl*gging her off, you can refer to specific songs/albums and explain in detail what it is you believe is so crap about her singing.

Anyway, I voted Hounds of Love. I think all of her albums are excellent, apart from Lion Heart, which I thought was not up to the standard of the debut or anything that followed.

Don't worry Andy, ranger got chucked out a while ago, mainly for being continually abusive about the wonderful Kate Bush. And he could never come up with any specific criticism, just abuse.

I agree with you about Hounds of Love (although Aeriel is catching up fast) and Lionheart, but the latter was made up of rejects from the first album as her label wanted another album out quickly. I've never liked it much, apart from Hammer Horror.

I always suspected that of LH when I was younger. I couldn't understand why the standard of songs differed so much from 'The Kick Inside'

I agree, Aeriel is fantastic. Arguably her most prog to date!

After 3 months plus of solid listening I personally prefer "Aerial" over all other of Kate's releases. Her most progressive work so far! Never For Ever is also a hot favourite with me and Hounds of Love. This is one very talented musician whose inclusion in the Archives is most deserved
