It is stated on the front page of Winter that they are from England - they were actually from Northern Ireland and I believe that the album was released over there with a different label before being picked up by SI.

Thanks Kev for your post, I am the one who wrote that previous review. I was very eager to add Winter to the Prog Archives site but unfortunately I couldn't find any information from Winter. I was working for SI Magazine in the time that they were released on the SI Music label, associated with the SI Magazine, and was asked to write a review about them because of my appreciation for bands like Rush and Marillion. Since then I love this CD but it turned out to be their swansong. Any proghead who is able to add something to the biography is invited to send his/her information to the site, thanks in advance!

hi Guys,

If you need any info about WINTER - Irish prog Rock band - please ask me -- I know everything about the original band from 1987 up to about 1994 [they continued under different 'line-ups' until about 1997 I believe] I could provide a complete BIOGRAPHY if you like infact as I know the original keyboard and piano player - Phil Murray.

see my review: http://www.progarchives.com/Review.asp?id=160142 - http://www.progarchives.com/Review.asp?id=160142

hi guys

looks like a wikipedia page for WINTER also -- at least i found it this morning by searching around for band names - Winter and ended up with

Winter- Irish progressive rock band

though it looks like it is under scrutiny as they may be deemed a non-notable band

i think they probably do merit a listing on wikipedia though -- i tend to agree with the person who created the wikipedia page -- he refers to them as one of the few Irish progressive rock bands -- and i think "across the circles edge" was a great debut EP.

what do you guys think?

[there is also an american thrash metal band called WINTER but not related in any way]

hi Erik,

I can provide a BIOG of WINTER from their formation until about 1992 if that's any good? --- i think i mentioned before I know the original keyboard wizard - Phil Murray and he is happy to draft up some info up to the point where he left in 1992.

cheers
