It seems that someone is complaining one more time about the audio mix, if it's being advised to use the PCM stereo mode instead of the Dolby Digital 5.1 for the best sound effect ever. Besides, it is said that the video quality turns not be that good in some parts of the entire video, specially on that shot of Neil where it can appreciated more by zooming the image... To be honest with you, I'm definitely not going to care about this, or follow the advice, and I would rather wait until I get the DVD and have that first impression once I play it... Maybe that's his impression... Same thing happened to the Rush In Rio live DVD set, and people overreacted about the poor audio mix and video quality when it is great... Just having the crowd on the back gives you that real feeling of being in a different environment, or culture. It just shows you how other people react to their idols when they have waited long enough to see them... It was like a miracle for them. besides, the band performed too well on that show, although there wasn't a soundcheck made before... And if anyone becomes anoyed by the loudness of the crowd at some point of the show, then the output level of the surround speakers can be lowered in order to appreciate more the music... What's your opinion about this???

I've never been convinced that Dolby 5.1 is an ideal medium for a concert. DTS is better,but is getting omitted more and more frequently.I am sure that I have a Yes DVD that is encoded in both 5.1 and DTS and the DTS is far superior. |

I agree with you, Tony R... DTS is even better for the home theater movie experience too... To bad is not being considered ultimately for live DVD materials... Thus, between PCM Stereo mode and Dolby Digital 5.1, Dolby Digital is the one that makes things to sound much better and powerful, if that is what you are looking for... In the end, let's pray for this new set to be the ultimate sound - video experience and that the DVD is superb, and fullfils many expectations... ------------- KEEP THE PROMISE YOU MADE |

I was so let down by the audio of Rush in Rio, especially the CD mix which is horrendous. The DvD is slightly better and to me sounds less muddy in stereo than 5.1. I will gladly buy r30 as i am a sucker when it comes to bands like Rush, a classic band, who deserve my support after the joy they have given me over the years. However I am expecting an improvement in sound quality over RIR which to my ears was such an awful shame as this was a classic concert and one which deserved much better from the producers. ------------- There stands Olias to outward to build a ship Holding within all we hope to retain The frame will be so built to challenge the universe Clasped with the skins of the fish of the plain |

Has anyone else seen it? Mine is not coming until December 1st. I order it from Amazon, and they are supposed to ship it by November 30th... So I still have to wait for a while... That sucks This is what happens when anyone lives outside, in a country were great stuff comes later and in limited amounts... So, don't expect to find it here anyways...

Good DVD! I'm not sure I like the sound of Neil's set (particularly the higher toms) and Alex's guitar is sometimes buried, and they omitted 8 songs from the DVD (including La Villa Strangiato, By-Tor, and the Trees ------------- THE DEMON CODE PREVENTS ME FROM DECLINING A ROCK-OFF CHALLENGE!!! |

Sometimes the guitar seems muddy and incoherent. For example, during one of the solos in "Working Man", you can see Alex's fingers blazing all over the lower frets in what would probably be a pretty awesome little bit of shredding (2 minutes and 42 seconds into the audio track on the CD). Unfortunately, I can't distinguish a single note in the whole bunch! So, maybe "buried" was a somewhat misleading term... more like, uh... well, you know what I'm trying to say! ------------- THE DEMON CODE PREVENTS ME FROM DECLINING A ROCK-OFF CHALLENGE!!! |
