| I own the LP of this album (Yes's First) which features a black cover with Yes written in blue and red print with a red background that kind of forms a dialog globet like those seen in comics. Inside it has an article written by Tony Wilson from Melody Maker about how he had forseen the rise of Yes ( this inside the fold-gate); Is this worth any more that the normal one, because I've seen that the one that appears on the site has a different cover, it is from Atlantic Records. I am speaking of the album YES (1969), no the Yes album from 1971. |

I always thought the first Yes album had the cover you describe - the
picture of the cover on this site is unfamiliar to me. As to value of
the album I'm afraid I have no idea...but my gut reaction is I wouldn't
get too excited ! Sorry can't be more help. |

their second album comes with two different covers also depending on which side oif the Atlantic you were: A B&W cover of a female body floating into a room and the one featured on the site. Both albums covers shown here are North American versions. ------------- let's just stay above the moral melee prefer the sink to the gutter keep our sand-castle virtues content to be a doer as well as a thinker, prefer lifting our pen rather than un-sheath our sword |

I only saw that covers Zabriskie describes in Europe. This is valid for both Vinyls and Cds. Atomic Rooster and some GG artwork were also different across the pond too. Since this is a Canadian site, the artwork chosen are the North American ones Even Colosseum had different artwork for their first three albums. ------------- let's just stay above the moral melee prefer the sink to the gutter keep our sand-castle virtues content to be a doer as well as a thinker, prefer lifting our pen rather than un-sheath our sword |

What's with the American cover of Time and a Word? Did anyone else notice that Steve Howe is on the cover, even though he doesn't play on the record? I guess the record was released after Peter Banks left. ------------- My recent purchases:

yes, it is. it does depend on the condition of the vinyl and the cover, but i've seen it for 45euro, so don't expect thousands of dollars for it |

ebay is a great way to find the value of vinyl. You can track albums and see

The first press will have the Atlantic "Plum and Orange" label - the first UK press is the most valuable, but Yes albums generally do not command a high price.
Any original inserts will automatically increase the value of any album - but it depends on the album as to how much; For example, a 1st press of "Master of Reality" by Black Sabbath is worth around twice the usual price (around £50) if the original poster is present. There are other ways of identifying a 1st press, including matrix numbers and sleeve printers, but condition is paramount. The thing with eBay is that it very much depends on who is looking/bidding, and how much they are prepared to pay for an item. *I thought that the b/w cover with the "floating lady" was for "Time and a Word"?

Pete Bank is on the album and there when it was released. Steve Howe was playing and recording with Bodast at the time. |
