None of 'em.  As close as I would get is Moraz.  the rest of 'em were too damn flashy and emotionless, IMO.  My pick is Geddy Lee.  YES...I know that it was his 2nd instrument, but, I think he kicks major ass on keyboards.

Of those listed, definitely Wakeman, as he had the ability to combine flashiness and showmanship with emotion and subtlety.

However, for those not listed, I also love John Tout's extremely tasteful classically derived keyboard work, Ken Hensley, Jon Lord and Vincent Crane's monolithic organ work and the pure class of Pete Bardens and Dave Sinclair.

Tony Banks, Keith Emerson, Rick Wakeman, Eddie Jobson or Dave Stewart.

Today I choose Eddie Jobson. I'm not sure about tomorrow

Robert Wyatt's an interesting choice...not most peoples idea of a great keyboardist but he does have a distinct sound.

I wasn't trying to be funny, SnowDog..I was being serious.  Lee created some serious melodies with that keyboard, which is why I like most of their 80's stuff.

Wakeman as my top choice.

Wright and Emerson are awsome though.  So is Rudess.

Emerson, for the wizardry. But I really love John Tout from Renaissance, and have to say that Richard Wright is one of the most underrated musicians in the prog world.

Tony Pagliuca (Le Orme) deserves a mention too.

Without a doubt Emerson, followed by Moraz, Banks then Wakeman. I was sometimes disappointed by Rick's variety on his solos and I don't feel he had the technical ability of Emerson. He is really gifted though, it's a tough one.

Posted By: Flip_Stone

Hmmmm.  I'd have to say Tony Banks and Kerry Minnear, then some of the keyboard players that used to be in Rainbow (Dave Stone, Don Airey, Tony Carey).

For me its always be Rick Wakeman, followed closely by Keith Emerson.

Have seen both of them live - makes you want to sell your piano.

It's really surprising that Rick Wakeman has only 115 votes.

It's nice that Patrik Moraz has 134 altough I prefer Rick.

As multiple votes have been allowed in this poll, that may account for it....also for Emo getting 436 (as I write)..

Without a doubt it has to be Rudess. He is technically the best by far. I somehow think that someone who has the ability to play Bach Concertos by the age of 8 is going to be miles ahead of others in his field. Although Emerson, Wakeman and Moraz are amazing players too, no doubt at all/ Kevin Moore also deserves a mention not for playing ability(although he is quite good) but for his writing ability.
