Well I don't think I told you, but my son Ian, is a fashion designer here in NYC... but atleast he lived at home.  Now however, he's finally graduated and taken a job at the design house of Hugo Boss and moving to Switzerland. Well the Swiss border, just above Milan.  I can't believe he's leaving his poor Mom here all by herself.. I think I'm experiencing that empty nest syndrome coming on...

Anyway today he was published in one of the fashion magazines.. so I thought I'd share it with you...

Eww fashiondesigner!

The most commercial and caring-about-nonsense people in the world!

Though, my dad has been asking how I am every day since I left to go to university... Strange... Irritating...

You don't know how lucky you are JrKAsperov, when I was 16  I went to see the posibility of studying in Birmingham Alabama and my father offered to send me money enough to live (even though he wanted me to stay in Perú), after a month he sent me a letter with $ 700.00 and just 12 words:

FIND WORK YOU GOOD FOR NOTHING, OR ELSE BEG.

Good Luck

DAD

I didn't heard from him until a few months later when I returned home without a penny in my bags and 200 LP's  (he didn't knew my motrher kept sending me a couple hundreed dollars each month and I lived in one of my family friend's house).

Threefates, I give you  for the bittersweet experience- sounds like you did a great job raising him if he's having such success, but (as a childless man) I can only imagine the space it has left in your home. Perhaps you could use the time to acquaint yourself with a band called ELP? I hear they're pretty good- you might like some of their stuff.

May we assume Ian's passing resemblance to Greg Lake is purely coincidental?

Good morning 3Fs, may I join you in your pride fest? My little girl has just graduated for her VMBO diploma (thats a  Dutch high school diploma for 16 yr olds) and is about to start her HAVO (advanced diploma needed for university). Not bad for an English girl studying in a second language!

I'm nearly as proud as I was last year when she came home from a garage sale with a vinyl copy of "Close to the Edge" under her arm.

With her moms looks and dads brains () she's bound to go far!

Because you are trying to load the pictures from your computer directly... and they don't have picture file endings...

You have to upload the pictures from your C drive or wherever you have them stored on your computer... to an on-line address.  You can do this thru a photo server on-line site such as Photobucket.com... or you can also do this if you belong to any MSN, Yahoo groups... they usually have some space for that.

So then when you attached them here... its actually just a pointer to where on the internet your picture is stored... (a link to your picture)

Right click on one of my pictures and then click on properties (at the bottom).. it will come up with some file info including the URL address.  You will note that my URL addresses all start with http:  and end with .jpg

Then right click on yours and see the difference.

THAT BEING SAID:

Congrats on your daughter's graduation!!.  Those are indeed proud moments for any parent, seeing how hard it can be just to get your kids to like school anymore.  I wish her all the best in her next climb to achievement!

No, I still can't see them.  But the url address looks okay.  I think its because the msn group you're using is blocked.  You might want to open an account with photobucket... its free.

BABELICIOUS!!

"Better be careful, she looks a whole lot older than 16 !!"

3F8ts, in those pictures she is only 13 and 14 respectively! By the time she was 11 she was 5' 10" and looked like this;

http://photobucket.com/albums/v423/emdiar/?action=view&current=Jade.jpg">

The class group photos from those days look like they should carry the caption "Supermodel visits junior school". Even in Holland where tall blond and blue-eyed are standard factory settings for kids, my English rose can silence a room as she enters.

Now she's 16 and looks like this;

http://photobucket.com/albums/v423/emdiar/?action=view&current=Foto33.jpg"> http://photobucket.com/albums/v423/emdiar/?action=view&current=Foto23.jpg"> http://photobucket.com/albums/v423/emdiar/?action=view&current=Foto6.jpg"> http://photobucket.com/albums/v423/emdiar/?action=view&current=Foto24.jpg">

Film Star material in my book, though I may be biased.

Now I'm no Greg Lake, (who is? ), but I'm not sure my photo can be trusted to behave itself on the same thread as your gorgeous "3F8ts at 20" pic, so I've posted Mrs emdiar (above) to keep an eye out!

I wonder who?

Seeing baby Ian (sooo cute) it's enough to make one broody! Then again, a few sleepless nights babysitting for my niece should cure me!

(edit: I just checked the spelling of "broody" (try writing in a foreign language all day. Your spelling goes to pot when you return to English) in a Websters dictionary (American) and saw to my dismay that it only means moody or gloomy. In England it also means eager to procreate!)

Well... an update...

Ian is still at home.. he's had to change his flight twice because Hugo Boss and the Swiss Consulate aren't so coordinated with his working visa.  You know I should be happy for the extra time... but really I just want to get the whole thing over with... Him there, working, and happy I hope.  But now I can't depend on this disorganzied company to do that for him...

Ahhh... motherhood... he'll be 65 years old.. and I'll still be worried about him...
