'Sunset wading' is a 1976 Solo record by John G. Perry.(Gringo, Caravan, Quantum Jump, Aviator, Solo). Knowing a lot of musicians from his Canterbury background, he invited them  on this record among them : Michael Giles, Rupert Hine, Geoffrey Richardson, Morris Pert, Elio d'Anna(italian band NOVA), Simon Jeffes and a String Quartet. The record is conceptual and based on a morning in the Lake District,"from the first cock-crow at Down-in-Dale to the last breakfast hungry farm hound". (Perry). It is a beautiful record and well crafted in terms of tension: it starts very calmly buids up tension and comes to a quiet ending. The record is mainly instrumental with four vocal tracks.  Every track is introduced by some field recordings (birds, water drops etc.) that Pery recorded himself. The music varies from Chamber music on 'Dawn' ( introducing a string Quartet), to Jazz rock with nice rhythm work by M.Giles on drums and M.Pert on marimbas, reminding Gong for ex:'Ah well..' ,to athmospheric compositions like  'I wait my friend' (with beautiful vocals by Beryl Streeter)and 'Sunset wading'. If you like Canterbury Music go for it.
