What are albums people could reccomend to me which were released in 2005.?

I seem to have skipped the prog scene completely this year, not intentionally but they just don't seem to be publicised at all very frustrating. The only album sor far I have bought that could even be considered prog is Deadwing by Porcupine Tree and that is more contempory rock than previous albums.

My collection from 1997 when I was 10 and I first started buying albums ( my dad thought what I bought was weird and I was weird), is very healthy with many albums for each year. And before that, my collection starts in 1968 with Pink Floyd. There are no barron years with less than five cd's, because bands such as Deep Purple make up a large amount. And yes albums through the 80's. ( not the greatest 80's yes fan but better than some people say.

My problem is that my collection is in chronological order and my 2005 shelf which I made room for on Jan 1st 2005 is almost empty.

Help Me with your suggestion of albums I should buy.

Yhanks

Away from the safety of the mainstream, virtually everything Cuneiform records has released, especially 's: Thanks For Flying With Us; Machine & The Synegistic Nuts; Fast'n'Bulbous; Susan Weinert's Running Out Of Time (jazz rock fusion), David Cross's Closer Than Skin.

Opeth are interesting for my into that sort of music; Porcupine Tree's Deadwing sounds like a band casting around for a new sound; Octavarium overblown.

Best DVDs: Gary Husband's Force Majeure, Primus Live.

I think this album has been overhyped! The growling vocals ruin what could have been just a decent album IMHO!

The new Van der graaf album, Present, is great.
I also love Mindrevolutions by Kaipa, but the rewievs on PA isn't that great.
../Progressive_rock_discography_CD.asp?cd_id=7912" title="Glass Hammer The Inconsolable Secret album reviews, Mp3 and track listing - The Inconsolable Secret by Glass hammer is another great album.
But for me there is only one must-have album this year, and that is Hinterland by wobbler

Coheed and Cambria- Good Morning Apollo, I'm burning star IV

Pagan's Mind- Enigmatic Calling

And, of course, Wikipedia is the authority!

My current favourite for 2005 is Aries- what a gem. The theatrical vocals of Simona Angieloni playing against the raw guitar of Fabio Centarini, entwined together with flutist Carlo Barreca. This is a brilliant composition by Fabio Zuffanti. Italian stuff usually doesn't grab me, but this one did.

Maybe this is because it really isn't that Italian although it does have some of that distinct Italian sound as well. For me the foreign influence is the reason why I can't enjoy this album as much as many other contemporary Italian bands. Still, it is a good album.

Here's MY choices.

If you like progressive fusion at all, then you MUST get this treasure: MACHINE AND THE SYNERGETIC NUTS "Leap Second Neutral".

Since you like Yes, then Wobbler is a very good choice.  I think it's the best symphonic prog CD of the year so far. You can get Wobbler here for a good price: http://www.lasercd.com/default.asp - http://www.lasercd.com/default.asp

If you like the more alternative stuff with some heaviness, then The Mars Volta's "Frances the Mute" is a great choice!

Best of 2006 that I've heard:
PFM-Stati Di Immaginazione
Zenit-Surrender (Best "unknown" album)
Oaksenham - Conquest of Pacific
2007:
Phideaux - Doomsday Afternoon
La Torre Del Alchimista - Neo
