Hi there.

I“m a huge italian prog fan and I“m looking forward to know some new ones; so I hope all you experts can guide me in my quest for great music.

I already know the classics and some more, like Banco, PFM. Le Orme, New Trolls, Raccomandata, Cervello, Balletto Di Bronzo, Biglieto Per L“Inferno, Semiramis, Museo Rosenbach, Maxophone, and some more.

Please excuse any mispelled word and thanks.

I like the '70s bands. I am not a great fan of extremely complex noisy stuff like BALLETTO DI BRONZO's "Ys", I prefer more melodic bands. So I can highly recommend the following albums (all of them, except I DALTON and I NOMADI, are presented on this site):

Apoteosi "Apoteosi",

Celeste "Principe di un giorno",

I Dalton "Refflessioni: idea d'infinito"

Eneide "Uomini umili popoli liberi",

Latte e Miele "Papillon",

Metamorfosi "Inferno",

I Nomadi "I Nomadi interpretano Guccini" '74 (the only progressive, and probably the best, album of one of the eldest Italian bands; they started in 1962 and are still active),

Pierrot Lunaire (better start from their first album),

Quella vecchia locanda - any album, both are very good,

Il Rovescia della medaglia "Contaminazione",

Zauber "Il sogno".

FORZA ITALIA: Corte Dei Miracoli (two keyboardplayers!), Cherry Five (Yes-inspired and great vintage keyboard sound), Standarte (album Cursus and invocations is loaded with Mellotron, Moog and Hammond), Men Of Lake (wonderful romantic), Tale Cue (very compelling with great guitars and keyboards), Sensitiva Immagine ("Selling" Genesis with a pleasant Italian touch).........I'm sure you will receive more posts the forthcoming days  !

Another good italian album is "Terra in Bocca" by I Giganti. It's one of the earliest progressive italian album along with New Trolls "Concerto Grosso" and was made in 1971. It's a concept about the Mafia in Sicily and it's very good. The music is not as adventurous as later albums but it definitely worth to listen to this very good album.
