I did 1983, 1981 and 198o before but skipped 1982 until now.
For 1982 I has so far prepared a considerably shorter list than for 1980 and 1981 and so I did not even have 25 options. I'm sure I missed favourites of mine, I always do. I saved this to fill up the last slots with some from 1981 and 1980.
The numbers are not very meaningful, fairly arbitrary, reflects on what my more recent interests have been as well as long term interests, but not very accurately. The numbers are a feature of Awesome Prog where I made my lists and it does help me to organise these lists and think about what is meaningful to me. I have seen a concern about it being about the numbers, but its not that, it's about what I have appreciated and wishing to share that appreciation with others, as well as hearing about what others appreciate.
Please try to vote for five of these options if you can (more if you want to). I am happy to hear about other releases not in the poll provided that you comment on the choices. This commenting could be by voting and mentioning a release or releases in your post, saying what you know that does not appeal, or saying that you know none of the albums in the poll.
1982:
1. Kate Bush - The Dreaming 2. Laurie Anderson - Big Science 3. Art Zoyd - Phase IV 4. Giorgio Moroder - Cat People (not in PA) 5. Cocteau Twins - Garlands (not in PA) 6. Holger Czukay, Jah Wobble & Jaki Liebezeit - Full Circle 7. Fabio Frizzi - Paura nella città dei morti viventi 8. The Fall - Hex Enduction Hour (not in PA) 9. Goblin - Tenebre 10. Siouxsie and The Banshees - A Kiss in the Dreamhouse (not in PA) 11. Bauhaus - The Sky's Gone Out (not in PA) 12. Von Zamla - Zamlaranamma 13. The Residents - The Tunes of Two Cities 14. Peter Gabriel - Security 15. The Cure - Pornography (not in PA) 16. Adrian Belew - Lone Rhino 17. Etron Fou Leloublan - Les Poumons Gonflés
1981: Alain Eckert Quartet - Alain Eckert Quartet 1981: Serge Bringolf - Vision 1981: Eurythmics - In the Garden 1981: King Crimson - Discipline 1981: Rush - Moving Pictures
1980: Captain Beefheart - Doc at the Radar Station 1980: Slapp Happy or Slapp Happy (archival, recorded in 1973) 1980: Tangerine Dream - Quichotte
The Eurythmics was suggested to me in my 1981 poll and I really liked what I heard of it. Listening to the album as I prepare this and really enjoying this so going in the poll. Very nice find for me. Alain Eckert Quartet and Serge Bringolf were mentioned by another user, and those I already knew and hugely liked (I'm pretty sure they both have made past polls by me) and just got missed. But at least they are here now.

^ I discovered Full Circle due to you. Wonderful album.
EDIT: and just to hear it from somebody today, happy birthday! I am now legally old enough to both drink AND drive, just not at the same time, of course.

The original Noom acnalbasaC by Slapp Happy recorded with Faust. Not quite 1980 but that's when it saw the light of day. I didn't get many of these at the time except Beefheart.

I picked Etron Fou Leloublan for the 1982 picks and the rest from 1981. Rush, KC, Alian Eckert Quartet and Sege Bringolf. And I have those last two cds sitting in front of me right now, and both have Alain lecointe on bass, Alain Eckert on guitar and Serge Bringolf on drums. I do prefer "Vision" over the Quartet. 1982 is a tough year but Signals by Rush, Step Ahead's self titled album, Jean Paul Prat's Masal and Saino's self titled stand out for me.
