Thought I would share this very rare photo of Triumvirat's Helmut Koellen, who would have turned 75 on March 2nd of this year. RIP.

Helmut looks like a total MILF in this photo. Also, nice vintage MD421. Not everybody's go-to vocal mic, but it was a a different time.

I just heard from a close friend of the band, that not only did Helmut return to try again making music with Triumvirat, actual recordings for the Pompeii album were made with him-half the album had been recorded with Koellen! And then his passing ended that, and Juergen Fritz never released them. So the Pompeii album we know had Barry Palmer singing.....such a sad ending for Helmut Koellen....

That's really interesting!! I'd like to hear those recordings. There should be a Triumvirat box set with rarities and that would be featured.

Are you sure it's not a hoax or an urban legend?

Such a waste of young talent and a life, RIP, but the music lives on. Hopefully more material with him will get to see the light of day at some time.
