Pawn Hearts. Hammill's In Camera is my favorite of his albums. I haven't talked about Kaiser rolls in three hours.

going with Hammill on this one. The first side of PH brings it down a bit. Allowing In Camera to slightly overtake.

Love In Camera, but still Pawn Hearts gets the vote from me.

While "Man-Erg" was one of two tracks that I first heard of VdGG that I immediately loved and led to me exploring more, "Lemmings" took much longer to really appreciate. I started with tracks back in the bad old Napster days of the first half of the 2000s. As whole albums, due to "Lemmings", I found the previous two albums easier to get into on the whole, and have had The Least We Can Do... as my favourite (now it's more one of my favoured). "A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers" is what particularly makes that album so special for me. Some, like Micky (hope he is okay), have expressed that that suite brought the album down, or that the second half of it is weak. Obviously opinions vary. It was the second half of it in particular that blew my mind, and I love crescendos. It has been considerable time since I last listened to that album in full.

PH obviously... it's as damn near as perfect as an album can be.

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

I think that might be called a 'Hot Take' in PA common parlance... Wink

It may be picky but Pawn Hearts is a 1971 release. PA has it as number 3 for that year but it is much more 'ordered' (focused) than other great releases of that year (Fragile, Tarkus and Nursery Cryme especially). It seems criminal that VDGG then went on hiatius at a time when prog was becoming big business (72-74). Perhaps they missed their chance?!
