Had this video recommended to me on YouTube earlier. It's just what the title says, a full on solo piano cover of the entirety of Supper's Ready. This is one of the greatest things I've heard.

Hi,

This rivals Rachel Flowers doing TARKUS on the piano ... I find TARKUS more interesting as it comes off as a piano concerto, though I think that SUPPER'S READY is more of a collection of songs ... still very nice, and I, for one, appreciate folks taking a classical look at many of these pieces ... it tells you how valuable and important a lot of the music was ... much more than just mere songs! AND I hope that many of us wake up to the most valuable and important inspiration for what we went on to call "progressive music" ... it's not about the songs since this was not exactly very commercial at the start.

It seems to be widely recommended to prog enthusiasts. My favorite part is probably his facial expressions during Apocalypse in 9/8.

Absolutely amazing !! Thanks for posting Fret

Around 21:50 appears in the lower left corner a small doll (back view) wearing a red dress .. Is it a coincidence or a reference to the cover art of the album Foxtrot?

personally, I find it interesting for the fact that he's playing in two different time signatures during Apocalypse 9/8. Left hand doing 9/8, and right doing 4/4

@ Frets N Worries, I'm not a moderator, but I don't understand why such an experienced member like you place a thread in such a wrong section. Not like it matters that much, I just think that it's some unnecessary mess. Wink

Why is it in the wrong section? Confused

Maybe "section" is not the right word, but it should be "lounge". Anyway, I'd certainly find it more appropriate to place this thread in  https://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_topics.asp?FID=44" rel="nofollow - Prog Bands, Artists and Genres Appreciation  or  https://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_topics.asp?FID=51" rel="nofollow - Prog Recommendations/Featured albums  .

^ And I haven't been considering the stylistic aspect of it, as I haven't listen to this cover. In general, I don't like covers, and especially not of great classics I care much about.

Hi,

This is not a "cover" and in many ways it says it all about music appreciation ... you don't like "covers" so you will never catch a real concert and go listen to Beethoven, Mozart, Bach ... it doesn't matter who, because your idea of purity is sad ... really sad! You can't catch Mozart flirting in a bar and playing with his hands under his legs! And probably using his third leg, too! (Well, unless someone puts it in a movie for you!)

What Rachel Flowers did, FIRST (way before this one!) is magnificent, as this piece is ... and in the end, having the ability to hear MUSIC, and appreciate how it was done, is what it all has been about for many centuries ... except for you, I wonder?

Also, Mosh's post is not a personal attack.

I was talking about a general problem of mine, and I think that I have the right to choose not to interact with a person which I surely find to being attacked by the last couple of years.

David: there are only two moderators currently (both in North America) and we both do not look at every thread and are not on the sites all day. The best way to contact us (me or Ian, NogbadTheBad) is to PM either of us. Then explain to us the issue, relevant links help, and what steps you would like to see happen from us. Disagreements are normal, kinds of arguing is healthy, but we will act if there are patterns of personal attacks and harassment/ bullying or if egregious attacks. And we will investigate so clear and detailed info is good.

I do generally suggest that people who have issues with others try to solve it themselves by PM while cool and collected (I wish I had always done that). And if that effort at diplomacy fails, then of course we will try to mediate and moderate to whatever extent. I, by the way, have always regretted when I've said that I wished to ignore people. I don't believe in holding grudges generally and sometimes it's just misunderstanding, different ways of communicating, and personality conflicts. For me when being being thoughtful, we forums can give me more resilience in dealing with people (for this introvert, than can help, but we are all different).

Anyway, if serious problem with someone, best not to engage when heated either by post or PM. PM us if diplomacy failed or there is obvious egregious abuse, or just to get things off your chest and chat. Time is limited for us in response, however.

By the way, at a public forum you have the right not to respond to another but that does not mean that others can not respond to you just because you don't want them too This is group discussion based. Generally I think it's best to judge the merits of each post rather than the person, but that's a side-note.

Anyway, I'd wish that Mosh would direct his negative energy in some other directions, even I don't wish it for the persons that might become his new victims. I also guess that it's not accidental, he especially has chosen me, and I see it as something which must have to do with some frustrations in his life, some unfulfilled wishes which make him especially criticize those persons he apparently sees as more successful.

^ I don't see anything special about the way Moshkito (Pedro) is responding to your posts. Moshkito's style has ruffled a lot of feathers. He is opinionated and rants against certain ideas. I don't see see you as a victim here as I don't think it's really a personal attack on your character. Attack the ideas, not the person is sometimes said. And I have seen no evidence that it has something to with going after people who he thinks more successful. Again, i don;t think it's that personal and I doubt he knows much about your accomplishments. I don't even know what profession you have been in, if being a retired historian was a hobby, and I think I take more of a personal interest in people than Pedro. I think we should be careful with such speculation.

Anyway, I do suggest PMing him if you haven't already, keep it as factual and civil as possible sharing your concerns.

They say never judge a book by its cover, but I like to judge each cover on its own merits. I love lots of covers, takes on music, differences in instruments, different live versions, adaptations, variations and interpretations....

I just listened through and thought it was great too. Thanks for sharing.

you could also ignore him (with the ignore function or not)

I mainly do - mostly because I don't understrand most of his gibberish.
