Those here who know Corvus Stone, Bunchakeze and Colin Tench Project will recognise the name Sonia Mota. She did a lot of work promoting the music of Colin Tench (who died in 2017), and made the art work for all his albums and for some other artists. She was a regular here on PA for a few years as well, under the name Kati. Some former admins will not have forgotten…

After not having heard from her in over two years I learned this weekend that Sonia passed away this January, aged 47. The combination of cancer and COVID were too much for her.

Just for those who knew her.

yikes, that hurtsCryOuchCry

Sonia was a lovely young womanStar

spent hours on skype with her and lengthy  PM, both here and PE, but had not heard from her in three or four years..

I could've guessed she was fragile from the lungs (Covid says Angelo) as she almost litteraly sat on the airco trying to withstand the temperatures of Maputo, Mozambique (where she lived).

She had family in Breda (NL), when it's the only time we met in person.
I think Windhawk knew her best.

I wondered what the reason was for Sonia's absence on several message boards. This is tremendously sad news. She was a beautiful soul. RIP.

She started the "deleted topic" thread in the Just for Fun section that went on for 72 pages, much to her disbelief I believe. Sad news. RIP Sonia.

Rest in peace! Very sad!
I didn't have personal contact with her but remember her posting and wondered why she had stopped.
Apparently her avatar was really her!? (It had me wondering.)

This is incredibly sad news. I was only thinking of Sonia the other night, as I played some Corvus Stone.

At heart, she was a gentle and kind soul, and I know that Colin’s death hit her hard.

May she rest in peace.

yes, it was her in her avatar. We were "warned" by Windhawk who posted in the Collab Zone  a picture of them two somewhere out in a Norwegian Park, so we knew she wasn't a fake.

It's actually fairly funny that most at Prog Ears thought it was a troll pretending to be a "prog babe", when Sonia joined there using a slighly different picture. Typical PE reactionOuch. She was quite pissed off at first and thought about leaving for good, but she appreciated a lot that I defended her over there. My defence of her in PE touched her immensely and made us +/- close enough to correspond in different channels. We traded a few pictures in the process, but that one is the one that typified her best.

The last time I remember her presence here was when she helped announce the passing of her good friend Colin Tench. She seemed really broken up over Colin's death.

So sad to see someone so young (and, formerly, vibrant) taken from us. Our loss. Hopefully she finds herself in a "better place."

She was heart broken when Colin died. She spent 7 years promoting his work and doing the art work for it, working with him literally every day.
