at the end my peculiar book is available on line. Something different under the sun. Here it is the back cover text:
“Ruggero Formenti was born in Lecco (Italy) in 1968 and graduated in Theoretical Philosophy, Pedagogical Counseling and Educational Science. As an eternal 15-year-old who has always been addicted to music, he wrote this very intimate book to describe to his son more than forty years of emotions and discoveries in the progressive rock world; he later decided to publish it to be a source of inspiration for future musiconauts.
In the first part, the author explains the different meanings of progressive rock, traces its boundaries and tells the passionate history of this amazing musical genre, starting from its roots in the 50s 60s to today; he illustrates the adventures of the leaders and the events of the main streams, focusing on the social side of the phenomenon.
In the second part, the reader will find 136 detailed as well as conversational descriptions of sometimes poorly known artists’ work, who do not belong the genre's mainstream, whose other significant works, music adventures and curiosities are also pointed out. This is a possible path to start from and explore the most remote realms of prog rock. Dulcis in fundo/Last but not least two appendixes: "What not to do when listening to progressive rock" and "Invitation to listen for the young (un) prepared listener".
