Thanks Paul, fantastic poll! You must put a lot of time and effort into these. Clap

Roxy Music - Roxy Music
Bryan Ferry - These Foolish Things
Brian Eno - Here Come The Warm Jets
Phil Manzanera - Diamond Head

Along with David Bowie, and to a lesser extent Steve Harley, Bryan Ferry was my musical hero growing up. He was born and raised about 10 minutes away from where I live. Smile

If There Is Something I can learn from this poll, it's that my predictions often turn out to be predictably wrong, having predicted an easy win for Roxy Music, it's anyone's guess who's going to win now with three albums currently on three votes each. Ermm

Interesting Fact:

The cover model on the first Roxy Music album is called Kari Ann Moller.

She is married to Mick Jagger's younger brother Chris Jagger. Smile

And the cover model on Roxy Music's Siren album was none other than Jerry Hall, who was once married to Mick Jagger and later married Rupert Murdoch. Strewth! Shocked

I wonder what it was that first attracted Jerry Hall to billionaire Rupert Murdoch. Tongue

The cover models on Country Life were Constance Karoli (sister of Can's Michael Karoli), and Eveline Grunwald (Michael Karoli's girlfriend). Smile

I look forward to the next Roxy/Proxy Music poll! Smile

Coming up tomorrow, I'll make sure to include the Wetton/Manzanera album in the next Proxy Music poll. Thumbs Up

Tie between Eno and Roxy. Today Roxy gets the nod. What a rhythm section!

I gotta go with Here Come The Warm Jets, followed by the first Roxy Music album. I really like a lot of the music that Brian Eno was involved with back then. From those two records, to the stuff he was doing with David Bowie, and the No New York album.

Released as Roxy Music's first single in August 1972, it's Plain as Virginia that this classic pop song should have been included on their first album. Just listen to that Moog!

Great single, it was recorded after the album was released, but was included on the CD version. Smile

I seem to remember Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer doing an hilarious 'spoof' version on one of their TV shows.

Roxy over Phil. That Roxy Music debut is a five star affair as far as I'm concerned. Eno is something else here, so impressive.

I would have given Roxy's debut four stars if it had included Virginia Plain. Smile

I honestly don't think I knew it was a bonus track when I reviewed it because it's the fourth track on the cd I have with no asterisk or anything beside it to tell me otherwise. It's a fun song but not a make it or break it by any means.

Virginia Plain was included on the American version of Roxy Music's debut but didn't quite make it onto the British version, at least not until the Super Deluxe reissue in 2018. Smile

Either Manza or Eno (don't like much Roxy's debut)
Most likely most of my votes in this series will go for either of them two.

Fowever, FYP will be my choice most like for Chap 2
