I've got two: 1) When we Get to Sun City. The heart in it sustains me when the going gets tough.
                       2) Children of the Neon Bamboo- really motivates me to play and gets my wheels turning about art/aesthetics in general. Cannot recommend these two books enough.

What are yours?

Alan Watts- "The Wisdom Of Insecurity"  taught me how to venture beyond my comfort zone.  Since reading The Wisdom of Insecurity I often take Robert Frost's "road less traveled" that leads to new places and play.

Alan Watts- "The Book On The Taboo Against Knowing Who You Are"-  This pantheisistic book altered my view on the Universe, people, animals, and everything.  Some of the statements changed the way you/I/eye look at the world in an instant. The day I finished reading this, I spent hours wandering around Fort Worth peering at trees, dogs, buildings, and everything else under the sun. The lessons from this book taught me to be playful.  I learned to not take offense. I learned to honor everyone and all things as part of the God-energy. God at play. That said, the lessons are like a plant that must be watered to be renewed.  Life is a participatory game. We play at pretending we are not we, but a part of everything.Wink

It's always a biography of a musician that gives me some inspiration.

Are you making music in the Texas area by chance?
