Just found on youtube: some Drake Wheeler has written the orchestral score of an instrumental version of The Wall using a software called "Sibelius" and had it performed by another software called "Noteprformer", plus few tracks recorded with a DAW. Not perfect but I can imagine a true orchestra palying it.

I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

Hi,

It's actually nice. No complaints, but observations are in order! Big smile  Smile  Thumbs Up

1. No rock audience will EVER sit through it. A: Can not scream and applaud the great solos. B: The piece of the pig, or the professor, or the judges will not be available. C: The audience is not a bunch of stonies. They drink fancy something instead!

2. RW missed the boat. He had to redo DSOTM, when he could have done CA IRA properly with a rock orchestra and a guitar, and gotten rid of the lousy operatic voices that sounded like they were in the bathroom and not in a major production.

3. This will be a problem for PA, and all the Progressive sites, and wanna be sites. Wow ... where do you place this? Symphonic?

4. Reviews of classic music by rock folks ... it stinks w/o the vocals, despite being glad to not hear RW!

4A. Reviews of classic music by rock folks ... it meanders too much and some passages are too long and wasteful!

4C. Reviews of classic music by rock folks ... not enough songs, and they are not given the star treatment with the pink background and close up!

4D. Reviews of classic music by rock folks ... how can anyone consider this music, and not have sermons by Neal, and lyrics by Ian, and voicings by Jon, and ... solo by Robert?

5. 50 years on ... folks will not likely enjoy the "sound" of the rock music in The Wall (the original) and consider it an antique and very poor. We say similar things to a lot of the 60's stuff, at 60 years on, not to mention that we think the lyrics are ridiculous!

5A. 50 years on ... folks will not bother with an "orchestra" specially given the examples way back when in California when a computer fooled people, and folks got upset!!! Funny thing is that most music, THEN, will likely be done by electronics. Play a guitar? Why bother!

6. You really think the MET will ever consider doing this Orchestral Experience? They are not smart enough yet to have learned to recruit a rock audience, which will likely rip their seats for mementos and spill their drinks on the floor! AND ... no bucking POPCORN? WTF?

7. I listened to the whole thing.

8. That string portion of Comfortably Numb ... is far out ... really far out!

9. No one that loves their top ten and posts on it ... will bother with this, specially when Mosh posted something nice about it! At times, it feels like it specifies a lot of the music tastes ... not commercial enough. AND, this is definitely something that fits into an "acquired taste" ... specially as it does not exactly fit the formats of so much stuff.

Are you a music listener, or just a pop song'er? That should help appreciate this work, and its talented idea and design. You must think that Stravinsky and Debussy were total garbage 100 years ago, and time spoke otherwise!

As time goes by, I think that this over the top thing for top ten and the hit songs (or albums) will slow down enough to help us discuss music a little better ... though I'm not sure we will ever not have our friendly fans and stonies that might not be clear about their listening abilities and tastes. Cry  Embarrassed

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!
