I've finally recovered from a couple of surgeries and have been hitting the road on my bike and pumping iron again. A little running through in to break things up, but that usually ends up in having trouble standing the next morning (yes, I use orthotics, they help, but don't solve the problem).

Anyway... I was wondering if any of ya'll listen to prog while working out? I stick with music that is a bit upbeat. Ambient music spoils the rush. Lately it's been Relayer (the band, not the album) and the new IQ.

Howse abou chu?

Of course!!!
I'm used to torture me on the hometrainer EVERY day, no matter how long or exhausting the day was. Since one year now, I just leaked 4 days because I was camping, but I went jogging on these days
I always listen to prog with my discman during the work out. Mostly I can listen to an entire album, very loud.
I think it's even better to listen during this torture because it is nearly the only time on the whole day where NOBODY interrupts you. You're alone with the music. And another good thing about it: Time flies...I really can't do it without music anymore.
It's the perfect time to listen to a new album

I can't listen prog while working out because the gym I go to plays their CD's at maximum volume, and everything they play is crap.

A couple of times when I go at 7:00 AM when it's almost empty, they let me play a CD, but's not very often.

So the best for me is to complete my routine as fast as I can so I don't have to suffer two tortures simultaneously (The working out and the music).

Pffft, we prog fans are too intellectual to require fitness.

I used to jog three times a week, and sometimes during the weekend; but that just kept me away from prog music enjoyment. So, I'm happily growing a belly to prog rock

I actually jog and do workouts with a self burned cd with some of ELP's faster stuff and some of the marches... I find that the ones like Aquatarkus, Tank, Fanfare, Peter Gunn, Abaddons Bolero, Touch & Go, and Hoedown... except that version from "WBMFTTSTNE" cause Carl's so fast on that, he could give me a heart attack..

my work out is swimming, so no discman for me. but
depending on when you go, you can sometimes get
some good music. when i go during the in late
afternoon (3 -4, that is when it get's very busy) then
they tend to play either pop or classic rock. but later
at night (7-8) when almost no one is there you can
usually ask one of the life guards to play something.
they have a computer hooked up to the the speakers,
so if they don't have what you want, they will in a few
minutes. but i can't say i have ever asked them to
play any prog. though i once did ask for kid a.

Exercise?

***reaches for dictionary - gives self a hernia trying to lift it, gives up & lights cigarette***

I used to do Judo & weight training in my youth & I try to stay as active as possible nowadays (still fairly slim).

When we are blitzing the house each week, we tend to listen to very upbeat music, Deep Purple, AC/DC, Thin Lizzy - or if I'm on my own, some of King Crimson's more violent recent material.

While having sex, I tend to play a lot of Pink Floyd (most of the times it is "Wish you were here"... ) so I think it works either way, huh?

And depending on the stamina, doing it to speed-metal music could be a challenge as well

Try a Ramones live album - mega fast, totally unsubtle, not a lot of skill involved & the songs only last a couple of minutes - perfect!

Ah!

Gave away a bit too much there, didn't I?

20 minutes of heart pumping action is what we're talking about Jim. Not 35 seconds of exersion and 19 and a half minutes of chain smoking.

Ahh.. must be the man thing...  if I want it hard and fast, I'd prefer AC/DC 's THunderstruck or Fire Your Guns...

A challenge could be trying to keep up to "All of the above" by TRANSATLANTIC instead of doing it to "Vanishing Towards the East" by GROBSCHNITT   Well, I just translated what dan said into a prog euphemism... that way is clearer to me!

When a man talks dirty to a woman, it's sexual harassment.  When a woman talks dirty to a man, it's $3.95 a minute.

There's a huge difference between evil and naughty... think I'm a lil' bit of both, but in the nasty way! Not in the fanatic, narrow-minded way! (Like that makes a difference here, huh?) That ideologist son of a gun just couldn't see the bright side of it...

So, Marcelo... would you care for a trade later on when you're done with the she-Viking "friend" threefates introduced you to?
