Kind attention of ProgArchives users,
introducing ourselves, we are April's Fools, an acoustic rock band from Treviso active since 2008. We approach you with great enthusiasm to introduce ourselves to your audience, seeking validation, collaborations and visibility, hoping to provide valuable material for reviews of our album "At the Edge of Shadow". We acknowledge our genre may not be exactly progressive in a canonical way (assuming that a canon exists), yet still we believe there are some elements ascribable to it in our music (especially in the title track "At the Edge of Shadow"), and in the process that brought to their composition. Furthermore, we have great consideration of the quality of the reviews that you and your users offer, we believe that critics and/or appreciations may contribute to our growth as artists.

Short Biography: April's Fools is an acoustic rock band from the rural town of Arcade, Treviso, Italy, active since late 2008. Their blend of acoustic guitars, piano, and keyboards ranges from delicate melodies to intense and rough riffs, transitioning from visceral rock to infectious funk. All driven by a versatile and driving drum rhythm, enriched by a raw and emotional vocal.
Their latest release, "At the Edge of Shadow", is a musical journey through the consequences of dramatic choices, introspection, and the search for redemption. Inspired by real-life stories and compelling works of classical literature, the songs offer listeners relief in the face of adversity.
Formation History: April's Fools is an acoustic rock group from Arcade (TV) formed in late 2008, making their live music debut in 2010.
The formation history of April's Fools is mainly divided into two distinct periods. The first period, from 2013 to 2019, features a lineup that led to the recording of the album "At the Edge of Shadow" in 2016. It includes Alessio Biasi on solo acoustic guitar, Andrea Filippin on electric bass, Enrico Lovadina on rhythmic acoustic guitar, Enea Zanardo on drums, and Tommaso Pellegrini on vocals and harmonica. The second period, marked by Enrico's departure in 2017 and Andrea's departure in 2019, sees the arrival of Federico Zaffalon on keyboards in 2021. With him, they received awards at the 2022 Vicenza Rock Contest, including "Critics' Choice Award" (from Vicenza Today), "1st Prize - Best Guitarist", and "1st Prize - Best Keyboardist" out of 120 competing bands.
The album "At the Edge of Shadow" was recorded in May 2016 at the "Teatro delle Voci" studio in Treviso by Marino De Angeli, Alex Milanese, and Davide Florian. The front and back album artwork is by Paolo Antiga (comic artist of Les Humanoïdes Associés). The independent release took place on April 1, 2023, in physical copy and on September 13, 2023, on all digital platforms. Received the Best 2023 Underground Indie Album from Tempi-Dispari.it.
The group has performed live in the Venetian hinterland, including areas of Treviso, Padua, and Vicenza. Notable dates include opening performances for Frankie HI-NRG, Brunori SAS, Fluon, Plan de Fuga, and El Cuento de la Chica y la Tequila.
Promotional Single: The song we are promoting is "Clayman", the second track from the album "At the Edge Of Shadow", a straightforward and easy-to-listen pop rock song. The claymen referred to in the song are individuals who are "moldable" like the material they are made of. It's a metaphor to describe people who live in a relationship submissively, and whose connection continues to exist only to conform to social expectations and the fear of loneliness. In order to gain the partner's approval, claymen radically change their positions, opinions, and ideas, even putting aside their deeply rooted beliefs before the relationship began, depriving themselves of their identity and often burning bridges around them.
