this one time my band was playing this big show and we did 5 hours every day in the week right before it, and the day before we did a full day of practice, literrally like 15 hours...
And the show turned out like sh*t any way.. ------------- I can strangle a canary in a tin can and it would be really original, but that wouldn't save it from sounding like utter sh*t. -Stone Beard |

By myself? Probably an hour. I'm a slack b*****d With my band, when we rehearse it's usually for about 4-5 hours, but we're not constantly playing of course. |

I played for about 7 hours straight once. I don't know if you could call it "practising" though, I was more just doodling around on the guitar while watching Tv.
Concentrated practise, maybe 3-4 hours. I don't consider that a very long session, though. There's this guy I met over here who practised about 10-12 hours ever day, after he finished school. |

I have practiced for 8-9 hours when I was younger.But that is on the drums,it's hard to play for so long,you get pretty worn out. -------------  |

on the "Gong Est Mort - Vive Gong" event, which took place May 14th 1977 and was 14 hours long, the late Pierre Moerlen played drums in 4 (!!!!) bands: the band of Steve Hillage, Gong in the "Shamal" line-up, Gong in the "Espresso 2" line-up and finally in "Classic Gong" (who did an overly long gig). there were several other musicians who played in more than one line-up ------------- A shot of me as High Priestess of Gaia during our fall festival. At one time I used to practise Czernzy exercises and scales and arpoegios for two hours evey day followed by 3 hours of pieces then a couple of hours composition. All this on a piano in an understair cupboard (2m * 1m). This continued for 3 years then I got a life. ------------- Kineto-Zetetics |

the largest time would sum about 16,17 hours, counting stops for baths, lunch and etc.
i used to be a guitar freak, spending whole days playing and doing exercises, luckily i got a girlfriend who saved me from the dark 
now i dont practice a lot cos im really into musical production and recording |

I once had 8 hours in one day with 2 bands. End of the day was very tired. Usaly with bands its 4 hours each time. At one practice, while everyone was getting a drink i stayed in the room and did a 30 minuets bass blues solo. 8 hours on the piano at my peak ... which was a long time ago Nowadays (especially since I mainly play bass), I tend to do it two or three hours at a stretch ... Got two hours pencilled in tonight with my band in fact

About 20 hours on a weekend when trying to learn the piano intro of Firth of Fifth. About 15 hours more on a weekend learning the rest of the song.

I once was working on a guitar solo for 18 hours straight. If band practices count, my other guitarrist and I were actually working on an epic for about 25 hours straight. When being alone I prefer to practice for about 1-2 hours. I' ve heard that your mind writes new information for a quarter and then it kinda repeats those for 3 quarters. This means that stopping every hour for 5 min. is essential. However it's extreamely important to practice EVERYDAY. Even 10 minutes. Practicing for about an hour a week by doing 10 min. of practice every day is much better than playing 6 hours in a row on Sundey and not having touched the instrument for the rest of the week. Drummers like Dave Weckl have claimed that they practice like 12 or more hours every day. I belive him but very few people have the ability not to talk about the patience to do that. 1-2 hours EVERYDAY is the best IMO. -------------
