King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard is one of the most prolific and eclectic bands of the past 10 years. It can be overwhelming to dive into their catalog as they can vary styles from album to the next or even within an album.

So, suggest one of your favorite KGATLW track per post by providing a link or embedding a YouTube video. I will add it to the playlist in this post and to the poll. You can suggest more than one favorite. Multiple votes are allowed.

Feel free to comment on why selected your track or on other selections.

Help me create a playlist of KGATWL awesomeness and provide an entry point for others who may not know where to start. I myself have heard a half dozen of their albums. The playlist begins with one of my favorites tracks the 18 minute "The Dripping Tap" from the very eclectic 2022 album Omnium Gatherum.

Hmm, interesting. But I'll have to watch this from the sidelines. I like what I've heard from them, but nothing sufficiently "extraordinary" to get the courage to dive into their avalanche of albums. I've listened to a couple of albums, including one that is supposed to be representative of their music (forgot the title), but nothing really sticks. So I'm curious what will be presented here and maybe I'll find something really worthy to explore...

My first exposure to King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard was "Crumbling Castle" (from the 2017 album Polygondwanaland):

Not quite my thing, although they can be interesting at times. They even did a thrash album.

^^ It was actually a fortuitous discovery because I happened to turn on "Rage" (a music video tv show) at just the right time to see this amazing piece of music being played. I don't often watch "Rage", so turning it on at that moment was truly fortuitous.

I should remark that it was a discussion about King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard that led me to become a member of PA (though I had been visiting the site for several years prior to joining).

Here are some other tracks that I consider to be highlights (though I won't post YouTube videos for these at the moment):

Searching... (Polygondwanaland)
Open Water (Flying Microtonal Banana)
Rolling Stoned (Sketches Of Brunswick East)
The Wheel (Gumboot Soup)
Acarine (Fishing For Fishies)
The God Man's Goat Lust (Eyes Like The Sky)

I have not explored King Gizz as extensively as many and I was going to say "Crumbling Castle", which is taken. Awesome track.

I'll go with "Am I in Heaven?" from 2014's I'm in Your Mind Fuzz.

"Change" is probably my favorite song from them that I haven't seen mentioned yet, but I've only listened to about half a dozen of the albums as well.

I will update the poll listing sometime but the playlist is updated to 12 tracks from 10 albums in order of posting. The albums go back to 2013's Eyes Like The Sky to last year's Changes.

"Crumbling Castles" is one of my favorites as well and Polygondwanaland is one of my favorite albums by them. A number of tracks are first listens for me, so thanks for the suggestions. Keep them coming.

The first track I ever heard by them was "Robot Stop" from Nonagon Infinity. An amazing psych trip out album. It was designed to be one continuous infinitely looping piece of music as one track just blends I to the next. The first four tracks are relentless sonic barrage. Musical themes and lyrics reappearing throughout the album and is best appreciated as one or more continuous listens. Depending on your state of mind, this can provide hours of listening pleasure or bludgeon you to unconsciousness.

I am going to suggest "Evil Death Roll" from that one but could go with any number of others.

So, now 13 tracks across 11 albums.

Actually, it was not my intention to have these in the poll (which is why I didn't post the videos). I'm ok with them being in the poll... I just don't want to hog the poll-space. If other people's suggestions lead to a shortage of poll-space, I'm happy to have these entries removed to make room. Or if someone wants to have any of them as their choice, I'm ok with that also.

^ Ah. Okay. If others want to get their suggestions in, I can make room by removing yours, but with 25 slots, there might be enough. Hard to gauge what the interest will be for this poll. People are definitely welcome to suggest more than one.

I appreciate the selections as some of the albums I had not listened to in full yet (Flying Microtonal Banana, Gumboat Soup, and Eyes Like The Skey).

I don't want to hog this poll either but if it comes down to needing another track "Minimum Brain Size" from KG is another favourite.

Ok, I'll submit The God Man's Goat Lust (Eyes Like The Sky):

I think this is one that is less likely to be familiar.

The "god man" was described earlier (in "Evil Man") as "an evil man who did terrible things to people in the name of a god who looked upon the man himself with repulsion".

Added to the playlist. Will add to poll later. Still have room for more recommendations of favorite tracks.

Same, at least without the aid of the youtube playlist. That said, I have heard a number of albums and quite a few songs and know enough to come up with quite a few entries for inclusion (with a little research because I forget various of the names). Quite a few of my particular favourites were mentioned and are in the poll.

Remove "Yours"? I like "Yours". I will nominate the title track off the album "Yours" is on, which is "Butterfly 3000" (2021).

Awesome idea for a poll. So many bands I would love to see this done for, and really glad you did this for King Gizz as I have been wanting to explore the music more.

^Thanks. It would be great to have this for other bands IMO. Added Butterfly 3000.

If anyone else has some KGATLW favorites to add to the playlist/poll. You are welcome to suggest more tracks.

If you are unfamiliar with the band, the playlist can serve as an introduction.

Listened to the playlist, or better: I tried to listen to the playlist, because tracks 4 to 10 and 13 didn't play for me. I cannot say I'm overly enthused by what I heard so far. It is good, enjoyable, but despite the style differences they try to put into their music, the overall sound remains quite uniform (which is maybe a good thing for those who like it...). The tracks from the Polygondwanaland album appealed to me the most so far, but there is nothing that really makes me think that I have to explore this band urgently.

Ha, I haven't heard many of their albums but I think L.W. hasn't been mentioned yet, and I like this a lot.

Well, my poll fizzled, but KGATLW have not. They keep going.

Giving this a bump.
