Lucky Man is the only ELP song I actually like (9/10). And of course that choice is not listed.

The entire KE9, with Tarkus close second. Why doesn't anyone include the whole thing?

A bit bizarre to have Karn Rvil 9 impression 1 split in two, that was only for the vinyl.

My thoughts exactly.  I picked KE9 1st Imp. Part 2, because I love the organ solo.

KE9 1st Impression part 2. Tarkus is a nice piece, but in my opinion KE9 is better

Tarkus is magificent.

Although I hate that f**king armadillo/tank - hybrid. You couldn't come up with ANYTHING more idiotic than that, Emerson & co?

"Take a Pebble" from these. Maybe "Tocatta" is the best, I'm not sure.

KE9 3rd Impression is the ELP masterpeice.

Tarkus is my favourite track. It's one of the best pieces of music I ever heard. Lots of great musical ideas, Emerson plays incredible harmonies (much inspired by Ginastera if I'm not mistaken) and I love the contrast between Emerson's complex, brooding stuff and Lake's simple but wonderful and open sounding songs, sung with great feeling and accompanied by beautiful, imaginative lyrics.

So: bravo for Tarkus!

I think you'll find that no one in ELP designed the actual record cover!

I love every single note and tone in Tarkus. The playing in this song is one of the most impressive in prog. This huge song is colourful, inspired, entertaining and even funny.

That dreadful album cover makes this album even better ˇˇˇ. Just as bizarre as to show it to your poppy friends and say: "Look at this. This is a real gem, not exactly Kiss´, Metallica´s and Korn´s crap". And watch their faces while they think my music is crap, dated and boring.

This album cover is an "IN YOUR FACE ˇˇˇ"  image. Something to feel pride for prog.

Whoa- I can't believe I'm the first to vote The Three Fates! It was a mix between that and Take a Pebble (mind you the piano melody for Take a Pebble is heard often in The Three fates)

Just heard Tarkus for the first time yesturday- it's snazzy but it hasn't had enough time to grow on me. I must say- that electronic DUCK towards the end is fantastic!

What are you taking about I think that idea is f**king sweet. The world would be a better place if there were armadillo/tanks everywhere.

I voted Tarkus only cause karn9 was split up

There are sixteen top-notch tracks to choose from in this poll, so ELP must have done something right.

My favourite is Tarkus.

good 2nd choice, and you will LOVE Tarkus when you get a chance to listen to it.  Have introduced many 'Noobs' to ELP with that song, and the 'oh sh*t' factor with that is priceless.

I had chili fo dinna. Little too mcuh Cayenne but nothing  a Barq's root beer can't soothe. My friend was finally convinced of Emersons genius after hearing Take a Pebble. He's been playing classical piano for ten years. He wasn't all that impressed by Tarkus, but I can see why. Take a Pebble is just shimmeringly beautiful.

funny you say that, Becks said something similar.  She said she still can't stand my music but she though that the piano playing was supurb. (she plays herself).  Then I played The Three Fates for her..... maybe after 10 years there is light at the end of the tunnel.......

You should pull a Partridge family type thing and get a family band going!

ahh you must have missed some of my posts. We have.  My son on drums, Becks on piano, and myself on bass/vocals.  My son has been 'drumming' since he was a toddler and he started playing the staccato intro to Yours is No Disgrace, he's getting to be a decent drummer as he gets older (love Carl Palmer as well as Bruford).  We have some nice family jam sessions.

That kicks ass. No geetarist? Do you pull a Les Claypool and lead the band with bass? You should record for us sometime. Nice influences on your son, those are great footsteps to follow in. I am wondering how your singing is...

not bad, I sing in my church choir, and sang lead in various groups I was in, back when I was into that scene.
