Got to see him at Jazz Fest in New Orleans in 2013 and it was still amazing. Probably the musical highlight of that entire festival for me.

RIP Mr. Shorter, you were one of the great ones.

You are quite a fine person, and I am very fond of you. But you are only quite a little fellow, in a wide world, after all.

Sorry. It was just too tempting not to make it into a joke. Big fan of Wayne Shorter. Both as composer* and his playing. His stint with Miles 1964-1970 is filled with hours upon hours of timeless music. Early Weather Report is also fantastic. Love this this overlooked pre-Weather Report fusion release. So beautiful, so atmospheric

While checking with Wiki and looking at my collection, I realize just how many of my favorite jazz albums he is featured on:

As a leader:
Odyssey of Iska, Etcetera, Moto Grosso Feio in particular, but also like his renowned 1960's classics.

with Miles Davis:
Filles de Kilimanjaro, Bitches Brew, In a Silent Way., Water Babies, Miles in the Sky, Nefertiti, .. really though. I got to stop. They're all so great...
with Weather Report :
St, I Sing the Body Electric, Sweetnighter, Black Market
McCoy Tyner:
Expansions, Extensions
+
Grachan Moncur III, Some Other Stuff
Tony Williams - Spring
Lee Morgan - Search for the New Land
Joni Mitchell - Don Juan's Reckless Daughter

*around 1967-1968 he was behind at least half of the material/compositions included on the seven Miles Davis-albums recorded/released during that period.
