Chicago - Old Days
https://youtu.be/XoXsyMP8v3s" rel="nofollow - https://youtu.be/XoXsyMP8v3s

Trivia: Peter Cetera told James Pankow (trombone/arranger and writer of the song). "I'm not singing this sh*t, man! Howdy Doody?? Baseball cards? These are the corniest f**king lyrics ever!" (liner notes in "Group Portrait")

"Old days
Good times I remember
Fun days
Filled with simple pleasure
Drive-in movies
Comic books and blue jeans
Howdy Doody
Baseball cards and birthdays
Take me back
To the world gone away
Memories
Seem like yesterday
Oh, old days
Good times I remember
Gold days
Days I'll always treasure
Funny faces
Full of love and laughter
Funny places
Summer nights and streetcars
Take me back
To the world gone away
Our good memories
Seem like yesterday
Old days (on my mind and in my heart to stay)
Ah, ah, ah
Old days (darkened dreams of good times gone away)
Ah, ah, ah
Old days (days of love and feeling fancy free)
Ah, ah, ah
Old days (days of magic still so close to me)
Ah, ah, ah
Old days (on my mind and in my heart to stay)
Ah, ah, ah
Old days (darkened dreams of good times gone away)
Ah, ah, ah
Old days (days of love and feeling fancy free)
Ah, ah, ah
Old days (days of magic still so close to me)
Ah, ah, ah"

"Old Days" isn't even the best nostalgic CHICAGO song! Here's one of my favorites, that was based on a true story, then became prophetic and more fitting after Terry Kath's death.... It's annoying to read how this song was released AFTER his death, with some (with decent viewership) saying it's a song Danny wrote (he did) for Terry (wrong)

Nice vocal by Robert Lamm, background vocals from Peter Cetera, and some lead Terry Kath, and then some Chaka Khan!

Take me back to Chicago
And lay my soul to rest
Where my life was free and easy
Remember me at my best
Take me back to Chicago
Where my music was all I had
I tried to be good as I could
And sometimes that made me sad
Take me back to Chicago, to Chicago
Take me back
Take me back
Take me back
To Chicago
I still dream of the lake of peacefulness
The warm summer breeze
'Cause my life was so much simpler then
Street corners and tastee freeze
Take me back to Chicago
'Cause hustlin's not my style
LA was just a bit too hard
I wish I could be a child
Livin' back in Chicago, in Chicago
Take me back
Take me back
Take me back
To Chicago, to Chicago (yeah, yeah, yeah)
Take me back (take me back, take me)
Take me back (take me back, take me, I wanna go)
Take me back (take me back, take me)
Take me back (take me back, take me)
Take me back (take me back, take me)
Take me back (take me back, take me)
Take me back (take me back, take me)
Take me back (take me back, take me)
Take me back (take me back, take me)
Take me back (take me back, take me)
Take me back (take me back, take me)
Take me back (take me back, take me)
Take me back (take me back, take me)
Take me back (take me back, take me)
Take me back (take me back)

I recall a schoolboy coming home
through fields of cane
to a house of tin and timber
and in the sky
a rain of falling cinders
from time to time
the waste memory-wastes
I recall a boy in bigger pants
like everyone
just waiting for a chance
his father's watch
he left it in the showers
from time to time
the waste memory-wastes
I recall a bigger brighter world
a world of books
and silent times in thought
and then the railroad
the railroad takes him home
through fields of cattle
through fields of cane
from time to time
the waste memory-wastes
the waste memory-wastes
further, longer, higher, older

Seasons in the sun - Terry Jacks often misunderstood is it about nostalgia or nightmares, but one very important song indeed.

In the Old School Yard by Cat Stevens, and Sitting, by same artist, my two favourite songs of hes are both nostalgic

Frankly, I'm amazed Red Barchetta hasn't been mentioned in the first 3 posts!  LOL
