Nightwish - first album I got of theirs!
Don’t know Kamelot.
Moonglow by Avantasia is a great album as well.

I don't understand, Paul, why you place these Symphonic Metal polls in Prog Polls and not in General Music Discussions.

Could be two reasons. First, it could be that he doesn't know where to put such a poll. Second, he does not care at all.
I'll ask an admin to move the poll in the right place.

Simply because some of these Symphonic Metal bands are listed on ProgArchives, such as Epica, Kamelot, Nightwish, Rhapsody of Fire & Therion to name just five.

Okay, as I see it, Prog Lounges are only for Prog artists. Otherwise it's not possible to draw the line, and what should be the difference from General Music Discussions.

^ And by "Prog artists" I mean first and foremost those who have been accepted in PA.

5 out of 13 does not make it a Prog Poll, thanks for bringing this to the admins attention. I'll move it.

That's fine, but it still remains a mystery to me why my "Prague Archives: East European Prog" blog was moved to the General Music Discussions forum some time ago.

Sorry about that. Can you tell how many artists there are not on PA?

All of the artists listed on my Prague Archives blog are on PA, with the one exception of Gabor Szabo from Hungary.

Then I surely don't understand that, either, and sorry about that only this poll of yours is moved, it could be others' polls/threads as well. On the other hand, it's the first moved of the several Symph Metal polls you've had in Prog Polls lounge.

That's true. I've posted seven Symphonic Metal polls previous to this one and no one's ever mentioned it was posted in the wrong forum. Anyway, at least I'll know where to post the ninth poll in the series.

Actually, I don't find Prog Polls to be a more favourable place than GMD.

Btw Paul, I was just listening to Aesma Daeva's Frigid Beauty and came to think about that the fact, you like this album,
is one of many examples I've seen pointing at, your musical tastes ain't that conservative.

I can't believe I've voted for Therion again, but there's no doubt their eighth album is their crowning glory.
1. Therion
2. Visions of Atlantis
3. Xandria
4. Nightwish

I love Crowning of Atlantis, Paul. But I'd not give it 5 stars. I wouldn't and don't question your taste, for certain.
I discovered Therion in 1996 or 1997 with their album Theli. Theli and Vovin have always been my favourites of them. Then, Gothic Kabbalah, Deggial and Crowning of Atlantis comes. I also liked their previous work entitled Leviathan, but haven't listened to their latest output Leviathan II yet.

I love Theli and Vovin too, but Crowning of Atlantis is my favourite Therion album so far, so I couldn't give it any less than the full 5-star treatment. I almost gave up with Therion after their first three dismal and doom-laden Death Metal albums, but Cristi persuaded me to stick with them and I'm really glad I did!
