Wake up call ... so I finally got round to listening to some stuff post fish. Of course it's great. I am currently enamoured with the "live" album With Friends from the Orchestra
What strikes me is a similarity with the last two Talk Talk albums (Spirit of Eden, but even closer to Laughing Stock) in terms of the vocalist and the mood of the music. Anyone else think this. Just Wondering

I mostly have live albums serving as compilations of, I hope, their better stuff. So far, my very favourite songs are The Space and Neverland. As for albums themselves, well, I can't be sure for I haven't heard so many, but I really liked Sounds that can't be Made, which I feel would be an unpopular opinion, yet I feel it's got a very good atmosphere and works nice as a whole. As for the most beloved Brave and Marbles, I actually got full perfomances of them, and I was actually rather disappointed... I expected more of them, and really prefered the already mentioned Sounds that Can't be Made. Now, Friends from the Orchestra is one that I have been curious about, and have been meaning to get, but haven't gotten around to do so... and now I think there are two different concerts with the same premise and I wouldn't know which would be the better one to get.

Correct - STCBM is great
Correct - Merbles is dissatisfying
Incorrect - Brave is a masterpiece!!!

I adore Marillion and all their epochs, especially with Steve Hogarth. They are a top three band for me.

Hogarth always impresses the hell out of me but he seems to be 'marmite' for a lot.

You don't need to show your disliking every time you see the album mentioned.
Everyone knows you dislike it.

Marbles is the only relic I have from the Hogarth era - not including the Hogarth era painting on my wall. Smile

I don’t dislike it, it has some of Marillion’s best music on it. But I DO think it’s overrated by a lot of people…..

Mostly Marillion fans on the Marillion forum🤣

If you run an album poll on there, Marbles always comes out on top - I’ve tried several times to reinvent the same poll with slight variations, but it never works😑😃on here, the higher percentage of prog fans pushes Marbles down the chart somewhat!

I usually prefer H era Marillion. Merbles is in my top 10 albums of all time, like Ocean Cloud, Neverland, Fantastic Place, all the songs off that album is so good!

In my opinion there are 2 different Marillion . With Fish and with H. I prefer Fish era but I like some songs and albums from H era. Unfortunately Marillion went far from Prog path specially after 2010 . I guessed their potential don't let them to do a great job again. I think they are not a exact Prog band in this time .

For me it's a similar feeling to the music of Genesis with or without Peter Gabriel. Marillion with Fish is the period I like the most, but there are 3 albums from the Hogarth era that I recognise as very good: Brave, Afraid of Sunlight and Marbles.
