has a new studio album out, Beyond the Veil, their fourth, second since 2015.

Peoplesons: If you haven't checked this AMAZING band out yet (and I know 99.8% of you have not) I URGE you to do so. They are amazing. Singer/songwriter/keyboard player Chrissie Loftus is a force--but so are the rest of her bandmates!

Drew, you already know I'm a big fan. I don't do too many reviews, but Light at the Endless Tunnel was one of them... http://www.progarchives.com/Review.asp?id=1870209" rel="nofollow - http://www.progarchives.com/Review.asp?id=1870209

I live in the Philadelphia area but haven't seen them. I've heard a little bit on youtube and they sound pretty good. They actually remind me a bit of another Philadelphia area band who were only around briefly in the 90s called Finneaus Gauge. Anyway, I hope to see Infinien at some point or at least buy some stuff.

Whoa! Embarrassment of embarrassments: I've never posted any of my reviews of iNFiNiEN albums! An oversight soon to be corrected, I can assure you!

Love your review of Light at the Endless Tunnel (my previous favorite album of theirs and the one that got me into them)--the smokey lounge ambience references are cool--as are the comparisons to Mad Fellaz (and didn't you also make a recent wish for a duet between Chrissie and Courtney Swain--or even a collaboration of the two bands?)

Time to get to work and walk the talk!

I get it: BIG urban area, busy lives, and financial & time investments are tough to juggle. Still, some day … you gotta try, right?

No, for me it's more about not following bands that closely to know when they are touring next. There used to be prog calendars that told you who was playing where. Now you have to rely on facebook and if you aren't a big fan or following all these bands then more than likely you'll never know when or where they are playing next. A lot of times I find out about concerts accidentally. I did look them up earlier and it seems their last show was October 6th with no new shows in the immediate future. Then again I have tinnitus and don't really go to many shows anymore anyway.

Ouch! (The tinnitus. I'm sure electrified live concerts only amplify and exacerbate your symptoms! Guess acoustic concerts are your best bet. I've heard iNFiNiEN has done "unplugged" concerts!)

Not too bad because I always wear earplugs. I even had musicians earplugs made for me. They are good for standalone concerts but festivals are out for the most part (unless they are outdoors).

Listened to the new album on your recommendation, Drew. It's great, one of the best of the year! I love how organic and natural they sound even with a high degree of complexity. Thanks a lot!

Thanks, Lewian! I'm glad you liked it. It's one of those bands that you only need to hear them once and you know there's something special going on here. As I listen to Beyond the Veil over and over, I'm intrigued at how many times each of the four band members pulls me into listening to their individual performance due to their jaw-dropping virtuosity. And yet, as you say, it all sounds so organic and natural--as if their music could only sound this way!

I don't know if you write reviews but, getting this band a little more attention would sure help! (as well as help broaden the attention base of the PA membership).

Fantastic band, I have all the albums. Haven’t listened to the new one much yet, as I’ve had a ton of new additions to the collection lately.

Good album, it's unfortunate that a CD is not available for purchase. Vinyl or digital only.

Is that the case for all of their releases or just the new one?

^Appears to be just the new one. Guess this is the way of the future for smaller known bands.

For this reason I don't go to shows anymore. In fact, my issues started after an extremely noisy concert that absolutely blasted my right ear. What a damn torture. And they weren't even that good.

That sucks! My last concert was also a loud dud. My head was ringing for 5 days! And they were, at the time, my favorite band on the planet! Just too loud. Don't know why they have to do that in a small venue.

By the way, I'm giving Beyond the Veil a second listen and I'm really digging it. Great recommendation. Thank you.

I just bought the download of their new album last week. Right now they are 18th in my top 20 of 2022. Hoping to have more time after I'm done with listening to 2022 releases to go through the rest of their discography.

I eventually managed to find them on my streaming platform of choice (Apple) and the new album is on there. I do think that picking a name that is very obscure and strangely spelt/worded is going to go against them if they are relying on streaming. Anyway I've not managed to properly listen to it yet but I doubt it will make my top 20 for the year. There is obvious jazz fusion element to what they do and so a lot of it is a bit too 'flighty' perhaps for my taste. Vocalist is great though and the band can certainly play!

^ When I Google "infinien" I get tons of links to the band and their music. If Apple makes it difficult to find them, that's Apple's problem -- not the band's.

but its also the bands problem if they are hard to find on a very popular streaming site. However Apple does have an issue with how it categories certain artists for sure.

Only heard some tracks of iNFiNiEN, thanks to what has been posted here on PA in the past, and always liked what I heard. Listened now, thanks to this thread, to their new album. Great listen, indeed - wonderful album/band! (added to "to buy"-list)

Yep. Just discovered them. Pretty far out! Not much competetion as creativity and virtuosity goes. Earlier albums though are somewhat weaker, lots of over-used eastern scales.
