This poll could as well be in the Prog Polls, but it's so crowded there for the time being.
Anyway, Voivod albums from the '80sare surely some of the serious business Metal,
and you can choose between the three generally most appreciated ones.
Hopefully, your fave is amongst them.
Please, leave a post with your choice and maybe a comment, and enjoy it!

The Canadian Voivod was formed in 1982, and the band's very eclectic Metal style has been much influential,
of course especially on Metal bands but other too - amongst them, Anekdoten.
The most persistent members have been:

Dimension Hatross for me, although all three records are absolutely phenomenal. I think the reason Dimension hits me just a bit harder is that it perfectly bridged the thrash intensity of their first few records with the prog stylings of Nothingface and Outer Limits. And considering I'm a huge fan of both eras, it's like having my cake and eating it too

Voivod was born in Jonquiére, a town with pulp, paper and aluminium factories churned unceasingly, spewing smoke
and generating a perpetual mechanical din. The drummer, Michel Langevin, could have nightmares because of the
sounds from these factories, and the band's lyrics are much about something industrial, mechanical and cold, as well
as the band's sound is much industrial, cold and heavy.
Here a sample of the lyrics from the album Nothingface:
"The Unknown Knows" (excerpt)
Talk to me you flying shadows Wandering into the ozone stew Keep your myths from the embryos Who would misconstrue Anything new An outright official fiasco Can you shiled me From the drastic truth
Btw, a very good book about the more experimenting Metal is Jeff Wagner's
Mean Deviation: Four Decades of Progressive Heavy Metal (2010).

I have to admit that http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=7080" rel="nofollow - Nothingface with its dissonant and complex sonic attack is yet quite a bit of a challenge for me
to listen to, as well as the artwork is a challenge for my sensitive and in some ways conservative mind, even I also
find it to be very creative and one of the very best from the 80's. Plus that even I've got this album on vinyl,
the digital recording and mixing of it make the sound extra hard and "hitting". But I can imagine that after some
years and many listenings, I'll become very fond of this album - unless I'll become a bit too old for that kind.
- Some special circumstances are though that I've just got cleaned my ears for wax, and thus my hearing is extra
sensitive now.

To me the strange and constantly fierce sounds of Dimension Hatröss are a rather unpenetrable land - at least for the time
being, and I'd also say that Dimension Hatröss seems even more original today than Nothingface.
Anyway, I certainly find Voivod to be an interesting acquiantance, recommended for the heavy adventurers.

I can also tell that after very recently adding Nothingface to my collection, I think that I've got enough of dissonant and hard-edged
music at least for a good while.

I still think there might be some more people here who can be fond of these Voivod 80's albums, and it's good Christmas music.

Two posts by yourself in October, one in November and this one just now. No contributions by anybody else in between. Sometimes it's better to just admit to yourself that you made a poll or whatever that didn't spark a whole lot of interest. Voivod is a bigger band/name outside of PA, really. I quite like them, but I think you should let this one die out - if it doesn't get ressurected by someone who's not you.

I guess you have a point there, Saperlip, but anyway one more post of mine with a very excellent 1989 video of some songs
from Nothingface performed live:
Enjoy it and happy New Year!
