Thought I would start a thread on musical works that have officially been dedicated to someone or something that stands out and whose dedication means the most to you. Any music genre, and you can post the music in question, if you like.

I would like to start off with Rush's Caress Of Steel album, which was dedicated by the band to TV show host, writer, and humanitarian Rod Serling, who had died recently around the time of the album's release.

I'll take the term 'dedicated' a little loosely here.

The story of a parent's worst nightmare; it took real courage for Greg Lake to write about that and perform that song...

I'm fairly certain just about every album is dedicated to somebody.  When you read the liner notes there is generally a dedication in most every album I see.  Generally, they are dedicated to recently deceased family members.  Not sure if you want every album ever dedicated to mom and dad and granny and grandpa listed here. Embarrassed

One of the most moving I know is Mostly Autumn: White Rainbow

the whole album is dedicated to Liam Davison, their second guitarist, who had been with the band from the beginning and died in 2017, a few days before his 50th birthday. All the songs are about him personally and frankly, an album couldn't get more intimate.

Artistically, it also happens to be a stunning piece of work.

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

I see your point. I guess I could amend things to say works whose dedication stands out for you, that means the most for you; I just amended my beginning post like that.
