Can you put together a list of your faves from Little Stevland's 60+ year career?

1. "Superstition"
2. "Ribbon in the Sky"
3. "Golden Lady"
4. "Isn't She Lovely"
5. "Lovelight in Flight"
6. "My Cherie Amour"
7. "That Girl"
8. "For Once in My Life"
9. "If You Really Love Me"
10. "Don't You Worry 'Bout a Thing"

Honorable Mentions:
"Creepin'"
"Boogie on Reggae Woman"
"Livin' for the City" (album version)

*As a bonus, here's a list of my favorite songs Stevie either wrote for others or played on:
"Brand New Day" - Sting (harmonica)
  • “The Tears of a Clown,” Smokey Robinson & The Miracles (1967) (composer)
  • “Until You Come Back to Me (That's What I'm Gonna Do),” Aretha Franklin (1973) (composer)
  • "Its a Shame" The Spinners (played drums & keyboards)
  • "Cause We've Ended as Lovers" - Jeff Beck (electric piano)
  • "Perfect Angel" - Minnie Ripperton (keys, composer)
  • "Lovin' You" - Minnie Ripperton (keys)
  • "I Feel for You" - Chaka Khan (harmonica)
  • "Nightingales" - Prefab Sprout (harmonica)
  • "Love Me in a Special Way"  - DeBarge (harmonica)
  • "I Guess That's Why They Call it the Blues" - Elton John (harmonica)

I only really know Talking Book and Innervisions. The latter is an out and out classic and most of my selection is from that. Probably the only soul artist I care about.

Perhaps because it is still the most recent of Stevie Wonder albums I have heard, I’m inclined to give a(n only half*) facetious answer of the first ten tracks from “Journey Through The Secret Life of Plants”, which I was introduced to by Steven Wilson and Tim Bowness in their “Album Years” podcast. I’d never even heard of it, let alone heard it, and still find it quite amazing. Not amazing in the sense that it blew my mind by how good it is (although it is good. Very good!), but rather how bizarre an album it is from such an artist - particularly coming off the back of Songs in the Key of Life. Ok, so it’s a soundtrack, so it’s going to be somewhat different, but I guess I wasn’t ready for just how different. It’s almost unrecognisable as a Stevie Wonder album. But did I mention that it’s really good? This is potentially a Stevie Wonder album for people who don’t like Stevie Wonder albums, and although some Stevie Wonder fans might find this a bit too far off piste, there’s still a lot for them to appreciate.

(*Given that it’s a soundtrack, it’s hard to pluck tracks out of context, and few (if any) stand out on their own. Hence my semi-joking answer here than my ten favourite SW tracks are the first ten of this album.)

Purely by Coincidence, I Just Called to Say I Love Stevie Wonder's songs, having just bought Stevie Wonder's Number Ones CD for the princely sum of one pound from a car boot sale this morning. Smile
