... or nu jazz. Look at them kids go APEsh*t (=the name of the label their debut Not Thight album is released, today). Obviously very hyped very hip and all, on Anderson Paak.'s label - with Thundercat, Herbie Hancock mm. making guest appearances. It's superslick (I don't mind), but they sure know how to play. If this can get a new generation into fusion, I'm happy Here's one with Kurt Rosenwinkel guesting and playing some nice guitar on top of their grooves |

So remarkable how they already have an original voice and how there is a stylistic through line connecting all the tracks, giving it a cohesion that truly makes it an album and not just a collection of songs. |

^It's not of great importance to me whether they would make PA or
not. But it's like 85% complex electric jazzfusion and about 15%
hip-hop. Two hip-hop songs out of 15 tracks hardly feel like an actual
reason for a no to me. I believe prog can be fused with any kind of
music - hip-hop included. Isn't that sort of essential to what prog was
all about in the first place? Yes, JD is incredible. They both are.
-on my third listen now and it's getting better with every time. I'll probably spin this more often than the new Black Midi, although I consider Hellfire to be something of a masterpiece. Not Tight is just pure musical enjoyment.
