Although the greatness were coming from the more marginal sub-genres (and not form UK), I think prog was in great shape up till about 1981. This is the first year for me where there's not a whole lot of great albums for me to choose from. But still there was a lot of greatness out there if you like strange music. Here's ten: Kate Bush - The Dreaming art pop masterpiece - and got my vote. Art Zoyd - Phase IV another fantastic slice of chamber prog. I'm afraid it has to be Signals, but the thumbs up also go to Eloy, APP, Tull, Plant & Twelfth Night who also brought out great albums that year... oddly, I also found Abominog hugely enjoyable when I was 15...

I tend to think it would be best to leave Rush put of some of these polls, because the results would become more interesting. I could easily have voted for 4 or 5 others, but it would have been dishonest, because Signals is so special.

| For me ; the National Health-D. S. Coda is the most proggy of this bunch. Still, lots of good bands in this list namely Roxy Music, Peter Gabriel, and Kate Bush. Even though King Crimson is my favorite prog outfit ; I find Beat to be their worst effort. |

Another heavy-duty year. I have at least ten of those. Rush will win this easily, so I'll probably vote for maybe Eloy or Twelfth Night (Fact and Fiction means a lot to me). Jon Lord's Before I Forget is a fantastic solo effort, too. "Tender Babes" is worth the price of admission. Recommended. Thanks for reminding me about Tangerine Dream, but at least I didn't forget about Jon Lord. I've now replaced Uriah Heep's abominable Abomnog album with TD's far superior White Eagle album.

Why Because the results weren’t what you wanted to see? While multiple vote polls are obviously more open to abuse, I suspect (based on those I’ve seen) that instances of that abuse are greatly exaggerated. Strangely, 3 Ships was the most listened to Jon Anderson album on my Prog Britannia channel with over 3000 views, although I've no idea why, when almost any other Jon Anderson album is much better than 3 Ships.

Voted for Peter Gabriel. Kate Bush published another great album. Those mighty fine albums are in my Top 5 list too. In retrospect, I may have underrated Anyone's Daughter, so I'll give In Blau another listen.
