Subject: Rock Music POWER TRIOS

I just had the urge to make a list for RYM to find as many rock power trios as possible.

The only limitations is that there are three members and each band features electric guitar, bass and drums.

Any other instruments added are fine therefore ELP works because it's three members and all three instruments are covered (doesn't matter who plays how many instruments)

I'm sure i'm missing lots of prog bands on this list so does anybody have any suggestions?

Please do tell!

Thanks :)

Good list. Not all those bands I would consider to be a power trio.

Here's a power trio with some heavy prog leanings not on the list.

Transit Method

Love a lot of those already mentioned...
The Jimi Hendrix Experience
Robin Trower
The Groundhogs
Cream

I'll throw in Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush. Saw them about the time this live album came out. I don't think I've ever seen a more savage guitar attack. Ever. Brutal.

Love Triumph! Nobody mentioned them because they're already on my list.
I made a list on RYM to see how many rock music trios i could find.
Everyone has been helping find some missing artists.
I know this probably got obscured as the list went on.
Nothing wrong with mentioning bands over again though.
Definitely some awesome trios that have come and gone.

Your list is fairly exhaustive, but I have one (for now):

TRI-Offensive was a Japanese instrumental heavy fusion trio (guitar, bass, drums). Their lone self-titled album (2009) is a doozy!

"Fate of the Azure"

I didn't know that. I always thought the Baker Gurvitz Army was a trio consisting of the two Gurvitz brothers and Ginger Baker. Embarrassed

Nice list, I'd forgotten Ahleuchatistas were primarily a trio before switching to a duo for their last 3 albums.
