Published on his FB page:

Dear Fans,
In deepest sorrow we have to inform you that Klaus has passed away yesterday on April 26, 2022 at the age of 74 after a long disease but all of a sudden.
He leaves behind a huge musical legacy and is survived by his wife, two sons and four grandchildren.
In his name and in the name of the family we would like to thank you for your loyalty and support over all these years – it has meant a lot to him!
His music will remain, and our memories…
There’s a lot more to write about him as person and artist but he probably would have told us: nuff said!
According to his wishes we will bid farewell to him in the closest family circle. You know him and what he always said: my music is important, not my person…
Maximilian Schulze
also in the name of the family and the Klaus Schulze-Team

Crushing news… he was King Daddy #1 of electronic music in my world. Rare is the week when I don’t listen to at least one of his albums. Yesterday it was “X” in fact. RIP… he will be missed and his legacy deserves a spot near the top of creative greats of the last century.

Tough loss for the entire EM industry, a pioneer for sure......74 just seems too young.

Damn. I recall reading he had an illness, but I guess with the recent release I just assume he had gotten better, at least to an extent. So sad to read, a giant of electronic music for sur.e I"ll be spinning those first ten albums over the next couple of days

RIP

Sad day. My lifetime favourite musician, a most profound artist and intellectual who crafted sonic works of great immersion. Quality oeuvre throughout, with timeless 70s classics, followed by, I feel, a maintained signature and sense of earnest art throughout several different musical periods (even ones which can be tagged commonly as sampling-based, ambient, new age).

Hope he's at peace, after what must have been a lengthy period of illness, though I feel he found a kind of serenity and ease in his latest works. That makes this saddening farewell easier to take in.

Rest in peace.

Not the easiest music to listen to, but so influential and important. Speaking as an amateur synthesist type.

Even though he was apparently ill, I sometimes forget how old many of these prog heroes are.
RIP man.

Another major loss rocks the world of electronic music as one of the greatest progenitors of Berlin School leaves us.

Klaus kept our ears busy right up to the end, and he will continue to do so.

RIP.

Well damn. Perhaps he went all too soon but he sure left several lifetimes worth of music to check out.

I've only just begun having only checked out the 70s and early 80s releases.

A true legend if there ever was one.

Now he's in the ethers where his music came from in the first place!

Thanks for the music Klaus and the countless of hours driftig away and into your beautiful universe. It has helped me tremendously over the last couple of years dealing with a broken body.
It’s so weird that I haven’t listened to him for months though…but started putting on some of his albums during these past few days…and then this. I think I’ll throw on Body Love when I get home.
Magic is is short supply these days. Klaus had a way with it that I will continue to dive into whenever the world turns into bureaucracy and cement.
All the love from Denmark. Cheers monsieur Schulze

Yes, I saw the news yesterday posted on FB by Mortiis. One artist paying tribute to another one who influenced him...
I like Schulze's early releases (first two) the most.

Hi,

I wish I had something to say, and will ... more than likely ... later on an issue of poetry for various folks in music for the Ygdrasil Journal of Poetic Arts.

For now, though, RIP Klaus, you will be missed.

Sad to say that when I heard that one cut from the new album, and the title of the album, the first thing I thought of was ... it will be his last album! ... and sadly, the person that probably appreciate the famous DUNE novels never had his music associated with it, and it deserved to be there, as was originally thought of with a Jodorowski project that was killed.
