Nektar continues U.S. ‘Vinyl Sides Live’ Tour with April dates

There’s still plenty of chances to catch prog-rock pioneers Nektar on their “Vinyl Sides Live” Tour in April! The band is performing complete album sides from some of their best-loved releases (“Remember the Future,” “A Tab in the Ocean,” “Recycled”) along with their latest release, “The Other Side.” They’re also playing these albums in their entirety at selected shows.
Nektar changes their live show every night; and their renowned light show/visual environment has been updated and fully digitized – creating the ultimate Music & Light Theatre!
Here’s their April schedule:

MARCH 31-APRIL 2	WILDEY THEATRE EDWARDSVILLE IL
APRIL 3 KNUCKLEHEADS KANSAS CITY MO
APRIL 5 GRANADA THEATER MINNEAPOLIS MN
APRIL 6 THE BUR OAK MADISON WI
APRIL 7 ARCADA THEATRE ST. CHARLES IL
APRIL 8 CLYDE THEATRE FORT WAYNE IN

For more than 50 years, Nektar has taken legions of fans on audio-visual journeys to far reaches of the universe and the depths of the ocean with their immersive blend of sight and sound.
During the height of the pandemic, when touring had to be postponed, the band made the most of their ‘down time’ by preparing for this upcoming tour, adding another 90 minutes of music to the 3 hours of repertoire they performed on the previous tour in early 2020.
Nektar has captured the imagination and admiration of listeners the world over with their multi-media concerts, melding a jam-band vibe with superb musicality and a visual cornucopia that perfectly complements the performance.
Formed in Germany in 1969 by British expats, Nektar soaked up the musical freedom they found in their new home, favoring extended compositions and concept albums over the constraints of pop. They were among the progenitors of the progressive rock movement of the 1970s as well as the jam-band scene that arose in the late 1990s.
Currently, Nektar features three of the original members – Derek ‘Mo’ Moore (bass guitar, vocals), Ron Howden (drums, percussion, vocals) and Mick Brockett (visual environment). Ryche Chlanda (guitar, vocals) and Randy Dembo (bass guitar, bass pedals, 12-string guitar, vocals) are alums of previous Nektar incarnations. World-class multi-instrumentalist Kendall Scott completes the lineup on keyboards; his performance credits include Project/Object and Ryche Chlanda’s Flying Dreams. They are joined onstage by Maryann Castello on backing vocals.

Seeing as I'm on the West Coast I'll be missing these shows but I do hope they're filming them like they did for the previous tour and will eventually put up another excellent live video album on YouTube.

Glad to hear they're killing it live like always!

I’m quite glad the band is touring, I’m sure it’ll be a great show. Too bad they’re not coming to California.

Hi,

Or northward to Seattle/Portland (Seattle more than likely!).

The band made its "name" from St. Louis towards the East, and while they were very well received the two times I saw them (1st at the Santa Monica Civic and 2nd time I can not remember) ... they were fantastic and clean ... even the album "Sounds Like This" did not sound as good, and they were exactly like the album and their material ... good, clean and very well done.

The issue with the West Coast is large distances, and not enough money to cover the costs ... and only a show in LA, one in SF and one in Seattle would still leave a large bill carrying equipment all the way West and then up (or down) I-5. It's the main reason why we don't see half as much "progressive" stuff over here, where people are already desensitized with country music and top ten and rap. Many of them don't even know of the music around elsewhere even exists ... try the kid pounding the boom boom in their cars right through your neighborhood!

It's a very sad state of affairs indeed, and I miss the 70's and 80's and just grateful that I saw TD, Alan Stivell, Gong, Nektar, Hawkwind, Man and so many other bands ... and the funny thing is that other than Alan Stivell here in Portland (acoustic with a guitar player), every one of those shows were sold out.

But not enough. Sean Ahearn took an incredible pasting and loss on the SF Progressive Music Festival, because folks wanted to see PT or Magma only ... all the other bands? Who gives a guck! And some folks even complained that Lana Lane and the Rocket Scientists were "too metal" when they put together one of the cleanest and professional of shows of any of the bands, possibly other than Magma.

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!
