Hi,

The main comment I have is that if that drumming was any worse, I would fall asleep! So tired of the simplistic monotonic and machine like lousy drumming!

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

Have to say that I had (much) higher expectations about the eventual return of Alex to the recording studio. Maybe a little soon to judge, but the drums (or machine?) aren't my cup of tea either.

Listened to it and not all surprised that this is a KScope release.

I have not listened to the single released so far - as I don’t like to listen to any music released ahead of an album, preferring to hear it in context.

Lifeson’s previous excursion outside Rush seemed to be more disliked than liked, but I loved it. There is definitely more Rush that I don’t like than do, and I would never call myself a Rush fan. Victor showed more prog and progression, and just sheer fun, than most Rush albums. Lifeson showing he could make an album where he just didn’t give a flying fornication, and made the music he wanted to, and have fun doing it. I suspect this might be more of the same (even if it sounds completely different), and will probably (like Victor) alienate and annoy many Rush fans. Which means, I will probably like it. 😜🤪

The almost universal reaction I’ve read to this new single is negative or non-commital. Most seem to simply say it does nothing for them. Maybe it won’t for me, either. But hearing it in context could be the difference. Permanating struck me as horrendous when I first heard it. I couldn’t stand it. But within the context of the album, it worked. That was the last time I listened to a single released ahead of an album, because I realised how misleading it could be.

^ Compelling case for waiting the album. I just need to resist curiosity

Sounds interesting, but not that impresive. Once the album is out, I might get the mp3 before I decide if buy or not the CD.

I think I read that there is no live drumming here , only programming. I agree with you, not sure why Alex wouldn't want a real drummer on the album , especially considering who his previous drummer was.

Maybe that's why he didn't want a real drummer?

Maybe he wanted to leave behind the whole Rush thing, for obvious reasons.

This song would be a good runner-up for a James Bond movie.

It's OK, but just a bit dull.

Hmmm, not my cup of tea either. And I really loved the Victor album. I will withhold judgment until I get to hear the entire album, though. If there are some good rocking songs on there, I might give it a go.

Sounds a little like a mash up of Curve, Lush, Bjork, Lamb etc... Early 90's female fronted, indie shoegaze, rock...

Which is actually fine by me because I love all those artists.

It's not that original in that regard, but it ticks lots of boxes for me. I love it. It's certainly not what I would have expected from Alex Lifeson, but good that he is open to a completely different direction to hard rock.

Runs for cover...

It's fine......not the most compelling of songs nor complex, but honestly I was not expecting any of that. I think he wants to create whatever he feels in the moment and record it.

thought the same thing--

very few female rock singers who hold my interest---but who knows--I've always liked Alex's guitar work.

Not a Rush fan here... I think that this is very cool. I'm impressed.

Wow, that sounds like Garbage.

The band.

I quite like this, though I kind of tired of the sound about 20 years ago.

Now I feel old.

Alex mentioned that the vocalist Maiah Wynne was his muse in the creation of the songs. Ethereal, melodic voice (also brunette, black eyed, you know, the whole package).

Pretty cool, I think. Curious to hear what the rest of the album is like. I hope he mixes it up a bit and it is not all the same.

I liked it, I agree that in the context of a full album it should sounds even better.

Victor is great. It goes in several different directions and each one is unexpected. Fun record

Based on what I've heard so far it doesn't sound like my cup of tea.

I'm still holding out for new Geddy/Alex music
