After having appreciated Jazz-Rock and Folk-Rock, let us try Electronic Prog.
It hasn't been one of my favourite sub-genres so my own list is quite modest:
Edgar Froese (D) - Epsilon in Malaysian Pale (1975)
Harmonia (D) - Musik Von Harmonia(1974)
Heldon (F) - Electronique Guerilla(1974)
Heldon - Heldon 6. Interface(1977)
Michael Hoenig (D) - Departure From The Northern Wasteland (1978)

It looks like it's time to start putting another A-Z list together. At least I won't have any trouble finding an artist for the tricky letter "V" this time.

I hope, I'm not making you too busy with all these A-Z lists, Paul.

Not at all. It's all good fun, and putting together another A-Z list is also a good way to discover artists I hadn't previously heard of.

Hi,
Klaus Schulze and Tangerine Dream. And then Vangelis.
As far as "Electronic Prog", I can not say that I listen to one thing or another. It's all music to me and my mind!

As suggested above, there are many albums and artists whose output have touched upon or drawn heavily from the "progressive electronic", so my list may not fit your expectations exactly.
1. ALIO DIE & LORENZO MONTANÀ Holographic Codex (2015)
2. BRAINSCAPES Chakradancer (1997)
3. HAROLD BUDD and BRIAN ENO Ambient 2 - The Plateaux of Mirror (1980)
4. KLAUS SCHULZE - X (1978)
5. STEVE HAUSCHILDT Strands(2016)
6. ALIO DIE Honeysuckle(2011)
7. HAMMOCK Silencia
8. RYUICHI SAKAMOTO async(2017)
9. OÖPHOI Bardo (2002) * 10. KLAUS SCHULZE Kontinuum(2007)
11. TANGERINE DREAM Rubycon (1975)
12. VANGELIS Blade Runner Original Soundtrack (1994)

There is so much that I love in this...category. So, I will pick two from each of my favorites to avoid too long a list.
Klaus Schulze - Mirage and X
Tangerine Dream - Rubycon and Tangram
Bjork - Homogenic and Vespertine
Kraftwerk - Trans Europe Express and The Man Machine
Vangelis - Blade Runner and Heaven and Hell
Jean Michel Jarre - Oxygene and Equinoxe
Brian Eno - Discrete Music
Harold Budd and Brian Eno - Ambient 2 - The Plateaux Of Mirror
Autechre * - Chiastic Slide and Exai
* I don't know why these guys aren't listed on this site, but I think of them as prog. No one else has innovated like them in last couple of decades (as far as I am aware anyway).
Also amazing modern electronic artists who make use of unusual textures, interesting recording techniques, odd time, etc., but perhaps a little further from being prog in my mind are BT, Aphex Twin, Plaid and Monolake.
Edit...I really should have included these as well...
Ryuichi Sakamoto - Left Handed Dream
Redshift - Toll, Colder, Life to Come (I know that is 3, but they are all really nicely done.)

I thought about the early (first 4) TD and the first 3 or 4 (if you include Tone Float) Kraftwek, but there isn't much electronics in most of the albums. Some don't include synths or KBs at all.

Cluster and Harmonia are well worth a revisitation I think. I don't think they sound like Kraftwerk-clones at all.

early TD & Kraftwerk - yes I know, but wanted to keep comments

It's very allright, and thank you for considering my expectations.
My "Electronic Prog" is a rather quirky category, so I didn't really see any point in giving a definition of it here, for not to talk about expecting others to try to follow this definition.

That's good thinking, considering it usually takes me a couple of weeks to compile an A-Z list. At least I'll have either Zombi or Zanov to choose from for the tricky letter "Z" this time and there's only one Electronic Prog artist I can think of for the letter "Q", so no competition there.

I have updated my list to include Ryuichi Sakamoto's Left Handed Dream, which I love, and a few from Mark Shreeve's Redshift project which is probably considered to be derivative of Tangerine Dream and Berlin School / Ambient...

Tangerine Dream Force Majure has creepy darkscapes with electronics and mysterious themes. The drums and guitar create a Progressive Rock style. Not that the album is less Electronic. It's just that the album comes across sounding like a Progressive Rock band not unlike Cyclone did but without vocals.
Klaus Schulze- X...An album that is Electronic, but posses a sub genre of Prog called Symphonic Rock. The music creates that style by the usage of strings or perhaps creates a Classical sound not distant from the early Enid .
Popol Vuh- In Den Gardens of Pharaoh....Indescribable for the most part. It projects many aspects to primitive music and it's very spiritual. To assume that it is Progressive Rock is kind of misleading. It might come across that way simply because of its usage of percussion and some of the improvisation on keyboard and additionally Popol Vuh are considered to be part of the Krautrock movement and very much thought by many to be a band. I think of them as being spiritual.
Mort Garson- Black Mass ..The percussive style fused with eerie themes with definite melodies are more likely to be tied into characteristics of Progressive Rock...If Black Mass was performed by Goblin , The Enid..or Miriodor it would reveal how close to being Progressive Rock it is.
Johannes Schmolleing- The Zoo Of Tranquility..Melodic, quirky, and dreamy. Electronic music based around uniquely composed themes with a Progressive Rock edge and concept.
Mike Oldfield- Incantations..The album has a repetitive nature like Terry Riley or Philip Glass but with a Progressive Rock style because of the usage of flutes, guitars, and drums.
David Bedford- The Odyssey...Very Electronic..but again..sounding like a Progressive Rock concept album in various sections throughout.
Vangelis- Albeado 0.39...Unique sounding Electronic Music with a Progressive Rock feel not too distant from ELP

Usually I am a big fan of music that mixes electronic with non-electronic sounds. When I think of electronic sounds, I would include the use of studio-based sound manipulation (like f.e. it was used by The Beatles and Frank Zappa in the mid-60's) as well as musique concrete and things like that. Many of my favourite albums have electronic elements in them in one way or another, for instance in pop and rock, but I am also very keen on folktronica - electronics and acoustic instruments often suit each other.
On the other hand, I don't have that much fully electronic music in my collection, but I definitely have my favourite there as well. The first albums I can think of are by artists like Cluster (Zuckerzeit) and Kraftwerk (The Man Machine). I have even experimented a bit with fully electronic music myself lately.

That guy refers to 1981-82 as some sort of "decline," which is nuts!
At the time, Tangerine Dream were being sent prototypes of new synthesizers (PPG famously did), and the textures the band was creating with them were above anything else being made with synthesizers at the time. The music they made for Exit, Thief and Logos–Live at the Dominion, along with subsequent albums and soundtracks like Wavelength, White Eagle, Firestarter,Risky Business, The Keep, Hyperborea and Poland–The Warsaw Concert, added up to one of the decade's trademarks.
Plus (and this is a huge plus), Johannes Schmoelling is a melody master on par with Jan Hammer. Many of those beautiful melodies you hear in Tangerine Dream's music during Johannes' time with the band (you can practically sing them) emanated from his fingers.
There's a reason Tangerine Dream has so many imitators!

Tangerine Dream had just made a full-blown prog rock album — with vocals! —the year before (Cyclone, 1978). Some of its DNA found its way to Force Majeure and inspired Edgar Froese to compose the title suite's motif on piano, and layer the synthesizers on afterward. Klaus Krieger played drums on Cyclone and also played on Force Majeure. The second side features "Cloudburst Flight,' with a stunning guitar solo courtesy of Froese, and a rousing sequencer piece laden with unique timbres called "Thru Metamorphic Rocks." It's a standout album, through and through.
After that, Klaus was gone, conservatory-trained keyboardist Johannes Schmoelling joined, and the band proceeded to enter into its most successful phase.

Ha! I completely agree. While I am not a particular fan of White Eagle or Hyperborea, your point is spot-on. Tangerine Dream to my ears were, above all else, innovative or progressive if you like.
Speaking of Poland, I do remember being jealous of them for their kit - that PPG they used made me horribly jealous as it was digital and therefore did not go out of tune at the slighted change in temperature...that is all that it took. And, Poland is tremendous. Even my wife likes it & that is a test that is rarely passed.

He also commented on Froese's descent into "irrelevance" following Epsilon in Malaysian Pale. It makes me wonder if he ever really listened to Stuntman. It sounds like he's blowing a lot of smoke...
Poland was a phenomenal achievement for its time, four sides' worth of brand-new suites (precomposed with additional improv) that triggered a scramble for every regional outlet (for whatever reason, it wasn't easy to find, though it was on Relativity). "Poland" (Side A) was long termed the "blueprint for house music." Not sure if it is, but the entire release, all the way up to the finale of "Horizon," blew me away. And Edgar didn't even plug in his guitar!

On Force Majeure Edgar Froese's guitar playing Improved and he seemed to master improvisation, expanding more, improved his technique...and actually came across more like a Steve Hillage or Andrew Latimer style of playing. He was good before, but on this album it was evident that he took a leap forward.
In 1980 I enjoyed listening to Avant-garde by candlelight. Zeit and Atem were always included . "Nebulous Dawn" seemed to create a vibe of falling darkness. The piece created a feeling of drifting into the supernatural. The piece "Atem" projected in the exact same way. Tangerine Dream created beautiful darkscapes! Around the time of Phadrea , Rubycon the pulsating effect began which was a very rhythmical aspect brought into Electronic Music. Of course other people were already doing that..Mort Garson's rhythmical rapid pulsating synthesizer sound on "Leave The Driving To Us" which Pink Floyd's "On The Run" had a similarity to. There was Terry Riley who created swirly electronics over a pulsating rhythm with organ , Beaver & Krause and Ron Geesin , but TD took the idea and created atmospheric soundscape decorations around it. They were highly influential to other Electronic artists. Stratosphere and Sorcerer took another leap forward. Sorcerer never felt like a soundtrack to me. I love "Overture" from the album Various Artist ( Virgin) and "Haunted Heights" from a Tangerine Dream box set released in 1980. Both pieces are hauntingly affective and from that period.
Peter Baumann recorded a few tracks on Trans Harmonic Nights that Share similarities with "Haunted Heights". This style of Electronic Music influenced the early Neuronium from Spain and in Mexico during the 80s and 90s a quite impressive list of Electronic artists began releasing dark Electronic music which to some degree shared the influence of Tangerine Dream.

My collection tends to be dominated by Tangerine Dream and Vangelis.
For me Vangelis is the best artist working within the genre because there is so much variety. My favourites by him are
Heaven and Hell
Albedo 0.39
Spiral
Beauborg
China
Soil Festivities
Mask
Direct
Voices
El Greco
but there are several other ones including obviously the Blade Runner s/t that are excellent.
Tangerine Dream - I love everything pretty much from Ricochet to Underwater Sunlight (1975- 1987) but my absolute favourite is Tangram.
Others:
Neuronium - Heritage
J M Jarre - Oxygene, Equinox, Magnetic Fields and Rendez-Vous
Eddie Jobson - Theme of Secrets
Rick Wakeman - White Rock
Edgar Froese - Epsilon in Malaysian Pale and Pinnacles
Mike Oldfield - Songs of Distant Earth
Jurgen Fritz - Hard To Be A God
(I've not heard much modern stuff unfortunately)

Tangerine Dream - Ricochet Tangerine Dream - Cyclone Radio Massacre International - Emissaries ARC - Umbra Cosmic Ground - Cosmic Ground 2 Jean Michel Jarre - Les Concerts en Chine Klaus Schulze - Royal Festival Hall OHEAD - Dreamstate Circus Zombi - Escape Velocity Vangelis - Albedo 0.39

Hawkwind- Quark,Strangeness, And Charm Robert Calvert Sci-Fi stories backed with Space Rock rhythms and Simon House's Electronic Music.
Hawkwind- The Xeon Codex A more definitive cross between Electronic sound effects and Electronic pulsating rhythms and Space Rock songs.
"Sword Of The East" should have been on the Chronicles Of The Black Sword studio album.
Hawkwind- It Is The Business Of The Future To Be Dangerous The first 15 or 20 minutes of the album is Electronic. I'm not fond of the songwriting on this one, but the instrumental Electronic pieces are fun
Stomu Yamashta- Sea & Sky Atmospheric electronics combined with Jazz Rock and Classical structure.
Art Zoyd- La Chute De La Maison Usher Art Zoyd- Faust Art Zoyd- Nosferatu Art Zoyd-Le Mariage Du Ciel Et De L'Enfer Art Zoyd- Les Espaces Inquiets/Phase IV/Archives II
Ron Geesin- Roncycle 1: The Journey Of A Melody
DER NAME DER ROSE- Composed by James Horner Not Progressive Rock, unless you consider Popol Vuh to be Progressive Rock but nevertheless this music captures the sound and style of Florian Fricke during his Nosferatu period. Maybe it was not intended to be. The cd was manufactured in West Germany in 1986. That means it's out of print...ok moving rapidly right along..

They were both in TD when they recorded that.
It serves me right for not checking the dates. I only remembered Quaeschning & Schnauss on account of them being the only Progressive Electronic artist beginning with the letter "Q", even though there's no "Q" in the German alphabet, although there's always a Queue to get into Tangerine Dream concerts.

Hi
It seem that a race and each one write a longest list , win the race!!!
Electronic Prog is a one of widest range sub-genres of Progressive Rock categories. There are too many bands and artists that released and will release too many albums because most of them use technology to made a piece. most of them are unvalued (from artistic POV) IMO.
Personally , I love Tangerine Dream (atem-Tiger) , Vanglis , Synergy and all solo albums from Tangerine Dream's former members , Tomita and some pieces and albums from others...

I'd like to make some Changes to my A-Z list, so Mort Garson and You are out (nothing personal!) and Gandalf and Yanni are in.
