Flashdance has some of the best 80s music in it: What a Feeling & Maniac. TBH, I don't remember the movie much. Embarrassed

Fame, as a movie was 'so-so' at best but I still watch it.  Probably more for the seens of New York City of the 80s (which I really miss).

I'm a huge movie buff...but I've never seen any of these movies in full, just the typical scenes that are used for promo or referencing. LOL

I went with Fame here. I actually watched it again a couple of years ago. Still enjoyed it. Plus the final musical number is pretty epic.

Hi,

These films, are, above all, a really good slice of Americana.

My only (not so great comment) is that all of them worked on making a "musical" more valuable with a story, since the history of American musicals, specially in movies, is just horrible. A veritable 7 Brides for 7 Brothers, if you ask me, where at least the choreography is outtasight!

Fred and Ginger were special because he was such a smooth and great dancer. And their work came at a time, when the American public, if not the world, really needed some inspiration. And they delivered.

But we should not leave behind Gene Kelly, who also has one of the most famous pieces of dancing in film! Not to mention a song everyone can hum the first bars of!

I don't think I saw the entire Fame. I didn't care much for Footloose and I don't remember much about Flash Dance. I went with Dirty Dancing.

I have seen Dirty Dancing all the way through, once. Awful film. Not seen any of the others.

My one guilty pleasure may be Grease, if that's comparable, but I'm in no hurry to actually watch it again.

Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

I've seen bits of DD but have no desire to see it all.  I'd rather watch Roadhouse, but my family (wife and two teenage daughters) would pobably not appreciate it!

Now, Mamma Mia and Mamma Mia 2: Here We Go Again, these I do enjoy!LOL
