Better late than never, the 50th Anniversary Edition is finally coming, and this may be an occasion to react, speak your mind, or whatever. So, what do you people think?

It was better late than never for me too, as I listened to the Let It Be album for the first time earlier this month. Embarrassed

Tempted to get the full box set but listening on Spotify first. I'm interested in hearing these but like a lot of these box sets including the Anthologies, I'm not sure if I would play all these extra tracks that often.

Looking at the number of discs pictured, I can only assume that they contain the dozens of versions of the songs that made up the finished album, as well as a Phil Spector-less album mix. Regardless of how accurate my guess is, it all comes down how much someone likes this particular album. It's always been a second tier Beatles album to me, with some high points naturally, but it's not something I'm interested in.

To me, it's more than anything the work of Giles Martin trying to dig some new clarity from those old tapes what really matters. I hope he had succeeded with that.

Hi,

No album that I am aware of, had more bootlegs taken from it, and so much of that stuff completely ignored and "lost", more than likely dumped on purpose.

If you see the film, there are some wonderful moments in it, however, you can also see that there is a lot of stuff in it, that is confusing for us, namely how can a band stick together when they can't even talk to each other? One other moment is watching John and Yoko dancing away ... a truly magnificent touch, and it gives you an idea of how much more they might have wanted from the music that was not going to take place, and (instead) had to be a bunch of songs for the record company.

My thoughts are that what they really missed here was a George Martin to help focus the material better, since on the bootlegs, you really get to see how these were all individual pieces, that originally might have been a problem for some of the other members.

I wish I had the boots today ... there was so much stuff in them, including things that will never be shown or see, not to mention some old standbys of theirs which had been made fun with in the Beatles Christmas Shows (another BBC refuse to release thing!!!!) and it was Besame Mucho usually sung by Paul, but made fun of by John.

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

I thought that 'Let It Be... Naked' was a massive improvement on the original album (which I always found disappointing), and is maybe more in line with what a traditional Beatles album should feel and sound like.

I'll probably rent de PJ movie to watch the full movie. I saw the old depressive version for the third time some 5 months ago  - visible on YT - some 40 years after seeing it in a midnight-rock screen seance in a local movie on Bloor St (Toronto).

As for the LIB album, I grew up with the Spector version, so I don't care much for the Naked or third version.

keep our sand-castle virtues
content to be a doer
